Game of Thrones Thread

Feel free to discuss any future speculation, theories. Anything from the books is fair game to post. Everything that has been broadcast on TV or from HBO. No spoilers needed.

  1. If you watched or know the events that will take place in a unaired episode that has not been broadcast on HBO, you must put all the information and comments in a spoiler tag.
  2. Do not post any media of any kind involving actual content from unaired episodes without being in a spoiler. The only exception to the spoiler rule is content publicly posted from HBO and or the GOT actor themselves. Teasers, promos, trailers etc.

Any person unable to follow the spoiler rules will be banned from this thread. 14 days for first offense. Perm banned from the thread for a 2nd offense.

I thought Jon was already burned one time? Thats what Redditt thinks as a done deal. Not every Targayren is immune to fire. Danerys brother certainty wasn't.

Correct, the people in the room at that moment in time. But, its going to come out that he is Raheger's son at some point. My comment was about the long term view on how it ends.

He rides one of Danerys dragons, I think people will be convinced.

Although I agree with him about the speeches part, the path the TV series has given us many fantastic scenes that never happened in the books.

Briene and Jamie scenes after he gets back to KL.

The hound and Brienne fight.

Tywin was not even in whole books. He defintely wasn't an advisor to Danerys. His scenes are some of the best in the whole GOT.

Brienne and Jon are still dead in the books.

Bronn was out in the books after they got through Blackwater.

We spent 500 pages of Stanis druging through the snow to get to Wiinterfell. Another 500 pages deciding who would lead the Iron Islands.

The Valonqar prophecy seems more and more likely with each passing episode. That look Jamie and Cersei exchanged was ice cold. I'm thinking he'll add Queenslayer to his resume soon.

Any chance Jamie makes it out of this alive? He's made friends on both major sides that oppose the Lannisters. Brienne could vouch for him to Jon/Sansa and Tyrion to Daenerys.

We can put this whole 'Cersei Redemption Tour' to bed now, right?

Woman's a friggen nut-job and always has been. D&D spent 4 years trying to make her a sympathetic figure and hey, it turns out she's just a psycho-beast, same as many of us always claimed.

Stop trying to make this person anything other than a savage opportunist.

Yeah, there are a ton of us who have read the books, and the show is badass regardless of any departures from the way the books handled things.

Jamie, the uniter? Kills off Cersei, convinces Dany not to kill everyone through his relationship with Tyrion, establishes a truce with Jon through his relationship with Brienne, and they all march united to war with the white walkers?

OK, that's probably a bit too rainbows and lollipops for this show, but Jamie's character is one of the deepest in the show, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him become a "good guy" in the end.

I got to thinking how many long standing houses have either completely ceased to exist or are in real danger of ceasing to exit.

House Tyrell: Gone. Grandma ain't having any babies to carry on the name.

House Lannister: Hanging on by a thread. All the heirs are dead. Jamie and Tyrion better get to it if they want the family name to live on.

House Bolton: Gone.

House Frey: Gone.

House Baratheon: Gendry is still rowing. Last of his line, I believe.

Umber: Gone.

Karstark: Gone.

The Stark family name is relying totally on Bran at this point.

Who else?

Tyrell still has Willas; it should continue. He's been used as potential marriage bait a time or two; I expect he'll be married off still (Dany, perhaps?). EDIT: Tyrell also has Garlan Tyrell. Neither have been part of the show but are in the family tree issued by HBO so part of the show canon nonetheless. The Tyrell line is still in fine shape (recall that Loras was Kingsguard in the books anyway and was the youngest brother; he was never going to be the lord of Highgarden). Actually, it looks like the current HBO website shows Loras as the only son. That wasn't previously the case. So book and show have diverged quite a bit here. The Tyrell line is all but extinct on the show (very very odd and an unnecessary mistake, IMO).

Frey also still has some remaining males, or so I believed. Umber and Karstark may/may not be wiped out, we can't be entirely sure. They surely won't continue to exist as cadet houses, but I don't know that their lines are truly wiped out (I could actually see the Karstark's mending fences).

Bolton and Baratheon are done. Gendry is still bastard born and I don't expect Daenerys will be eager to legitimize him and bring back the line that she blames for the murder of pretty much her entire family.

The greatest and most powerful families we see are just small portions of the large houses anyway. There are presumably still tons of Lannisters, Freys, Tyrells, etc.

Most of these powerful houses are looking to be extinguished here soon, though. Or at least stripped of their lordships and titles.

Yea I know plenty of book readers that nitpick, but this is the most extreme case I've seen.

What's the deal?

I think Snow feels he owes her because she brought him back to life. So saving her from execution repays that debt and now they go their separate ways because he can't stand to have her on his side.
