I'd be surprised if Azor Ahai fought any Others. There are no Others mentioned in any of the stories about him.
The Last Hero fought the Others, and succeeded in defeating them by finding the Children. He is never mentioned to have a flaming sword, or any Nissa Nissa type sacrifice.

Nor should you.
It's pure batshittery. They didn't just hide a rogue ****ing dragon under Winterfell. This once again falls into firmly under the heading of 'these guys are far better storytellers than we are and as such, aren't forced into stupid dues ex machinas like hidden dragons that don't show up for 4,000 pages to resolve a narrative issue...." Honest to God, a fully grown dragon just emerging from the crypts of Winterfell would be the stupidest plot device I have seen in the entire history of literature. Steven King wouldn't have even written an ending that stupid. No, there is no goddamn dragon underneath Winterfell because it's reeruned and GRRM is not reeruned.

How would the dragon have eaten? How would a beast like that go undetected for centuries?
I doubt Martin goes in that direction, but his comments about the ending of his novel (that he's worried he'll "pull a LOST") are a bit concerning. |

I honestly believe he knows how he wants to end the series but has no idea how to move the chess pieces to get there. He's written himself into a bit of a corner (or a knot, if you will) with some of his plotlines. The show's weak resolutions for both Arya and possibly Dorne provide strong evidence for that.

There are some good theories/predictions/possible spoilers here. The one about Cersei seems like it is definitely where things are headed.

Kind of funny that shit takes forever in this series when it comes to alliances and inner workings but takes two episodes for Dany to form alliances with the Greyjoys, Dorne and the Tyrell's.

It's the one thing they could do that is well within the guidelines of what HBO could show on the screen but would decide not to allow.

Watch the scene again with that in mind. Pay attention to where Cersei puts her hands as she talks.
