Madden 2005 -- funny stuff...

I decided to start a franchise in Madden with the Chiefs and instead of playing the games for the first (2004) season, I would sim them to mimic what has happened in real life.

Right now, I'm starting week 4 at 0-3 and here's a couple of gems.

Chris Bober and Jason Dunn are demanding playing time or a trade.

But these are the funniest:

I checked my Advisors screen and amongst other things, they're saying "The sports radio shows are ripping the team new one" and "We've got cap room. Now's not the time to be frugal."

A freaking video game is smart enough to figure it out, but the braintrust at 1 Arrowhead Drive isn't?

I love the composure in NCAA. I haven't played it much since I got Madden, though.

I never played Madden 2004, so 2005 to me was pretty cool. But NCAA 2005 is alot better than Madden 2005.

So, I was just watching one of the demo games on Madden 2005, Packers vs. Chiefs
Dante Hall returned two kickoffs back to back. Coincidently, the corners kept getting burned as well.

I would like to know how that happens with Dante. My kick return team doesn't block worth a crap.

Yeah, I got that. Even the demo is playing an actual game. How in the world did it manage 2 Dante returns? I could get returns but on those rare occasions when it looks like there might be a little daylight for Dante, someone whiffs on a block. And the freakin' juke on this game is weak. I love the NCAA Football juke.

I think the CB/WR play in this game is fricking weak. Try to run a fade route. They need to get that fixxed soon. ESPN did a much better job with CB/WR play but couldnt get the game balanced.

Additionally I would like to see young players improve under the tutilage of older players rather than just growing with playing time. I would also like to see players not complain about playing time when they are behind a team icon.

It's unrealistic. I can improve any one player of my choosing in these ways. While Im at it.... I want to be able to hire my scouts, designate my teams needs, and I dont want to be able to get 3 high 1st round picks every draft. (It can be done using nothing more than your current draft picks.) I also want the draft to be a little more random. My 4th round picks have never panned out and never will because they have a fricken 65 overall rating.

I've had 4th rounders come to fruition before...although I have found getting defensive lineman to progress is VERY hard in this game.

What would be more realistic?

Scouts and team needs is all BS. You can scout every player in the draft yourself and get "scout comments" on them. Team needs is just stupid....you know what you need, draft it!

I do agree the trade AI is a little goofy...but three high first rounders? I've never been able to do that.

Neither have I. I'm pretty sure that would require trading some of your best players.
