Ellen Page is gay

Well, that's interesting.

http://gawker.com/ellen-page-comes-o...ium=socialflow

Actress Ellen Page publicly came out as gay Friday evening, while giving a speech at Time to THRIVE, a national LGBTQ youth conference held in Las Vegas.

"I'm here today because I am gay," Page told the assembled crowd, which responded with a standing ovation and a long chorus of cheers.

"Whoo!" said Page, before continuing:

Quote:

"And because maybe I can make a difference. To help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility.

I also do it selfishly because I'm tired of hiding and I'm tired of lying by omission. I suffered for years because I was scared to be out. My spirit suffered, my mental health suffered, and my relationships suffered. And I'm standing here today with all of you on the other side of that pain."
Page is most famous for becoming pregnant by her awkward classmate Michael Cera, and for invading the dreams of a stranger alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, neither of which happened in real life, because she is an actress.

After her speech, the Human Rights Campaign, which organized the conference, congratulated Page on the front page of its website for "her brave decision to live openly and authentically."

Student suspended for criticizing gay lifestyle on t-shirt
Would you show similar levels of discomfort if a student was suspended for wearing a shirt that demeaned Hispanics?

For ****'s sake, Donger. You're being a moron.

You recognize that the disciplinary actions of a school (whether you agree with them or not) is far different from the nightmare of everyday bullying from classmates?

Let me repeat myself, because you apparently have a hard time understanding this.

The examples you just posted = disciplinary actions by the school, no different than a no guns policy or a no objectionable or rude clothing policy

The examples I'm talking about = bullying

Yes, I know. They are examples of bullying by the teacher/school for a kid expressing their beliefs about homosexuality. Has anyone ever been suspended for wearing a "gay pride" T-shirt?

As to kids bullying each other, I presume that you don't think being teased because one is homosexual is the only reason for bullying? Being short, fat, too tall, ugly, stupid, et al, right?

There are kids who feel very passionately about the right to bear arms, but the school district still has rules about that to protect students. There are also student who feel strongly about the right to express themselves in whatever way they see fit, including wearing shirts that are suggestive or obscene.

At the same time, there are students with racist beliefs out there I'm sure who would love to be able to wear whatever the hell they want and say whatever the hell they want about their thoughts regarding particular ethnic groups.

You don't have the right to tell the Mexican kid to go back to the other side of the border. You don't have the right to wear a shirt about it. You can go home and hate the Mexican kid all you want, but while you're in school you have to leave him alone in peace.

And the same goes for gay students. One's religious beliefs doesn't ****ing change that.

I'll repeat myself. One more time. The school is implementing a rule for student safety. Implementing that rule is not bullying or harassment. It's doing their ****ing job.

That student who hates gay people can go home and hate gay people. But not in school.

Like I said, I'll bet that a kid has never met the same kind of discipline for wearing a "gay pride" shirt, even though it is offensive to those who don't approve of homosexuality.

Surely, you didn't read the first example and agreed with what the teacher did, correct?

lol, whatever. The only student who was "unsafely" treated was Dakota. The liberal left knows how to manipulate the situation. For example, you are suggesting that Dakota's comments were "hate speech" when in fact, they weren't. They were his opinion. Dakota never said he "hated" gays.

wow, you liberals really do love to bend the truth to suite your extremist position.

When kids start hunting down and beating the shit out of other kids for being homophobes, then you might have an inkling of a point. Until then, shit like this still happens:

A Florida high school student under suspension for 10 days after breaking up a lunch room assault on a gay teen says he’d do it again.

East Lee County High School senior Mark Betterson stepped in as another student, James Griffin, began striking student Jonathan Colon in the school’s lunch room moments after Griffin threw milk in his face and called him a gay slur.

Griffin faces battery charges, while Colon received minor injuries.

Betterson received a 10 day suspension under the Fort Myers-area school’s zero-tolerance policy around fighting, but he plans to appeal, he told Fox 4 Now. “It’s not fair for somebody to get beat up for something that he is,” Betterson said. “I’m not going to sit there and watch someone get bullied. I’ve been bullied too.”

Colon returned to school Friday and organized a rally to protest Betterson’s suspension.

I didn't read the example.

Everything's going to offend somebody. I really don't know if there has or has not been a case of a student being disciplined for wearing a gay pride shirt.

Sorry, but people are going to get offended when you protect a social minority group. That doesn't mean defending the social minority group is wrong or that you shouldn't do it. It just means that if your priorities are with the people who are offended by people being comfortable in their own skin, then perhaps public school isn't the place for you. Either that, or you should learn to shut the **** up and deal with it like gay students have had to do since forever.

Good for him.

Now, do young men beat each other for reasons other than their sexuality?

And, do you agree with what the teacher did in the first article I posted?

Okay. Cling to that example of a student who CHOOSES to not like homosexuality and wear it proudly on a T-shirt in a public school where teachers may have mishandled the situation.

Yeah, students who oppose homosexuality sure do have it rough in school. Their treatment is just as bad as the treatment most gay students receive themselves.
