I don't know if it's "risk adverse" versus understanding that turnover ratio has a direct impact on the long term success of the football team as a whole. It was the single most important thing to the success of Marty Shottenheimer as a football coach. His teams did not turn the ball over and his defenses and special teams focused on getting it back.

Calculated understanding is not "risk adverse."

And while it's fun to watch the ball go downfield, go ask a Lion's fan if they'd take a little more sustained drives versus 50 yard jump balls that end in interceptions.

We've got a kick ass punter. I don't want one in my quarterback as well.

You know what's funny? This board had a melt down when Vermiel passed on Woods in that draft.

Of course, we ended up with Junior Siavii instead, so the joke was on us.

I have no doubt dude has some serious issues, teams don't let first rounders go after one year very often, its almost unheard of actually.

But based strictly on potential and raw skills, i'll take the speedier guy every single time... look at a guy like Heyward-Bey, was considered a massive bust but now starts for indy, ya just never know.

The change of venue might be just what ol Jenkins needs, same could be said for Baldwin.

He is worse as of right now...but with the Chiefs maybe he has a chance to get better. I don't know. Baldwin hasn't shown that he will improve.

I'd say this trade is slightly more in favor of the Chiefs...but at the end of the day, we're still talking a turd for a turd and who really cares?

Baldwin's salary of $1.061 million for this season is fully guaranteed. However, Baldwin's scheduled 2014 salary of $1.274 will be paid only if he's on the team.
Well that's a little annoying.

Next season's cap is going to be fairly tight, IIRC. We just traded for a guaranteed salary on a guy that we're pretty confident isn't going to amount to much.

It's small in the grand scheme, I guess. And it's probably worth the gamble. But now that there's another $1 million guaranteed tacked onto the 2014 cap, the opportunity cost on the move goes up a little more.

Exactly. There is NO SUCH THING as "worse than Baldwin." He may be "as completely useless as Baldwin" but you can't get worse. You could paint jersey numbers on a rock and toss it out on the line every play and get the same results.
