Ellen Page is gay

Well, that's interesting.

http://gawker.com/ellen-page-comes-o...ium=socialflow

Actress Ellen Page publicly came out as gay Friday evening, while giving a speech at Time to THRIVE, a national LGBTQ youth conference held in Las Vegas.

"I'm here today because I am gay," Page told the assembled crowd, which responded with a standing ovation and a long chorus of cheers.

"Whoo!" said Page, before continuing:

Quote:

"And because maybe I can make a difference. To help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility.

I also do it selfishly because I'm tired of hiding and I'm tired of lying by omission. I suffered for years because I was scared to be out. My spirit suffered, my mental health suffered, and my relationships suffered. And I'm standing here today with all of you on the other side of that pain."
Page is most famous for becoming pregnant by her awkward classmate Michael Cera, and for invading the dreams of a stranger alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, neither of which happened in real life, because she is an actress.

After her speech, the Human Rights Campaign, which organized the conference, congratulated Page on the front page of its website for "her brave decision to live openly and authentically."

Hyperbole much? That certainly isn't my opinion. It is, however, an example of "you WILL be tolerant of our views, or else."

wow, you really are reaching for crap. Again, Dakota never did any such thing, he was talking privately to a friend, expressing his opinion. You are creating hypothetical situations to justify abhorrent behavior by a liberal teacher who obviously has a gay promotion agenda.

It's not? You seem pretty preoccupied with convincing me that students who oppose homosexuality are victims.

I'm saying victims of the government/school/administration is a completely different issue, and one that's not worth breaking a sweat over. I mean seriously, who besides people who love to play up the righteous indignation card because gays = bad are crying foul about that?

Would you rather have all 5 of those students suffer or just sit back and let gay kids get picked off?

Don't tell me. I already know the answer.

I already scolded the teacher for mishandling the situation.

You're the one who wants to make this about liberal/conservative and "promotion" and "agenda." You're so ****ing narrow-minded that you think I'm a liberal just because I'm not at all bothered by homosexuality being a part of mainstream society.

No, I'm not of that opinion. Are some of these kids who have voiced their views victims of over-zealous teachers? Yes, absolutely.

Homosexuality isn't part of mainstream society. It's a very small minority of society.

Source?

Additionally, does this account for homosexual practices by individuals who aren't homosexuals (e.g. Muslims who have sex with boys and have a wife)?

My point(s) stand--Dakota's personal opinions were persecuted by a liberal teacher who is promoting the gay lifestyle (which is strange as German class is not the place to do this) while at the same time Dakota was expressing a private opinion to his friend, not meant for the teacher to hear. At no time was Dakota using hate speech, nor directing his opinion at anyone but his friend.

You may or may not be liberal but you display the classic hypocritical signs of a liberal.

According to a Williams Institute review conducted in April 2011, approximately 3.8% of American adults identify themselves either as lesbian or gay (1.70%), bisexual (1.80%), or transgender (0.30%); which would correspond to approximately 9 million of adult[1] Americans as of the 2010 Census.[2] However, a measurable higher percentage acknowledge having same-sex attraction, or experience, without identifying as LGB. This makes it difficult to accurately record the demographics of LGBT people in the U.S. Though, studies from various nations, including the U.S., covering varying time periods and age groupings have produced a consistent range 1.20–5.60% of the adult population.[3]

I'm not certain limiting "mainstream society" to the U.S. is entirely accurate. I'm also not sure what your definition is of "mainstream society".

Well, since we have been discussing the plight of the homosexual as it relates to the United States...

My definition of mainstream society would be what is considered to be normal by the majority of society.

Since when does having pride in something mean you oppose something else? A kid wearing a "gay pride" shirt isn't putting down or disagreeing with the straight lifestyle. Wearing a shirt that has Bible verses opposing homosexuality and the saying "being gay ain't right" is not about showing pride for the wearers chosen lifestyle, but is meant to demean and put down the gay lifestyle.

I'm sure a man if your intelligence can see the difference.
