Jared Allen is a Viking
According to Adam Sheffter of NFLN.
Just saw on the ticker. Chiefs receive the Vikings 1st round pick (17) and both 3rd round picks (73,82) in the 2008 draft. http://www.nfl.com/ ----- EDIT - Jay Glazer says we will also swap picks in the 6th round. Per KFFL: Vikings | Team acquires J. Allen, agrees to terms on contract Tue, 22 Apr 2008 21:14:13 -0700 Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports the Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms on a contract with Kansas City Chiefs DE Jared Allen. The Vikings will give the Chiefs their 2008 first-round draft pick, two third-round picks and the teams will swap sixth-round picks with the Vikings acquiring Allen. Allen has also agreed to terms on a six-year deal worth just under $74 million with $31,000,069 guaranteed. No. 69 is his jersey number. Last edited by DaFace; 04-22-2008 at 10:42 PM.. |

Speaking of wool over the eyes..... Jared Allen didn't want to be here LAST YEAR. This is the SECOND time he's requested to be traded. 4 DWI's? Nah, he's going to change. 2 requests to be traded? Nah, he really wants to be here. People are letting their hate for Peterson get in the way of common ****ing sense. |

He didn't want to be in KC last year, but yet he attended all voluntary workouts, etc.

The next few days and months will unfold as follows:
Wed - Fri : Acceptance of the trade. Lots of excitement with the extra picks in the draft. Sat - Sun: Anger at the horrible draft choices. Mon - August: Acceptance of the draft picks (except the 5th pick who is holding out - he's a greedy SOB) and rationalization of various reaches taken by Herm and Carl. "The more I read about Benjamin Winesapp the more I like him. His numbers were better than Gholston's against Akron. I think Herm found a diamond in the rough." Sept - Dec: Anger. "Winesapp sucks ass. At least we'll have a top 10 pick this year. That'll turn things around."

I really want you to break this down mathematically: Let's say that everyone drafted in the first two rounds is starter quality. That means each team gets 2 starters every year on average. Now, the average life for an NFL player is about 4 years, but we'll go with 6 just to help you out. You've gotten 12 starters out of 22 in six years, and half of them are on the downside of their life expectancy. Where the hell else do you think those other players will come from??

How many 1st rounders do the Colts have??
8. And they draft better than anyone. Ryan Diem was a 4th Rounder, Ugoh a mid-2nd rounder, Lilja was a scrap heap player, Saturday was undrafted, Raheem Brock was a 7th rounder, Robert Mathis was a 5th rounder, Gary Brackett was undrafted, Freddie Keiaho was a 3rd rounder, Antoine Bethea was a 6th rounder, Bob Sanders was a 2nd rounder. Why don't you look and see where the Chargers got Gates, Vincent Jackson, Shaun Phillips, Jamaal Williams, Olshansky, McNeil, and Nick Hardwick. They are all impact players and none of them were 1st rounders.
