but please don't start in on this 'Alex shouldn't play 3rd because one time a long time ago he couldn't hit when he played 3rd' or 'he's a gold glove left fielder' because the stats are going to back me up on this...

A gold glove LF'er means nothing...and this year, thus far, he has played slightly above replacement level at left.

I mean...LF and 1B are so far and away the most meaningless defensive positions it's not even close.

I wouldn't say a gold glove LF'er means nothing, but in comparison to other positions, it's definitely less important.

Salvy is hitting about .340 from the 3 hole. So if that is how it is, that is how it is, and keep Gordon at #1.

It doesn't really matter when no one on their team can hit a homerun. If that's the case, then yeah, Alex should probably be at leadoff.
I like Salvy in the 3 hole. The thing is, is that Gordo can hit in both the 1 and 3 holes with occasional power. No one else can do that and be meaningful on the base path's like Gordon can. Maybe Hosmer, if he continues to develop but he's just not as consistent as Gordon right now, outside of this little slump.

However, making these moves so you can get Dyson in the lineup more, seems to be an exercise in futility.

And I'm not sure Gordon could play replacement level 3rd base right now.

The problem is that you are moving Gordo to make room for a .250 slap hitter.

3B is a total reaction position

you don't forget how to play 3B

and it's 100% instinctual in the MLB

Yes, but when talking about a GGer, he's not just catching balls hit at him, he's probably legitimately saving runs from LF, thru assists and/or holding doubles to singles, etc.

So essentially, an average LF'er, or Matt Holliday, won't necessarily kill you, but he can absolutely hurt you if you don't set the rest of your lineup/pitching staff to hide him.

Tejada is hitting .333 right now with good pop. Dyson takes bad angles on hard hit balls and has a shit arm.
Dyson's speed is all he has at this point and is better suited in a bench role.

I wonder how long Moose gets in the Royals organization, even if he never plays up to his draft position? You know Dayton won't ever be able to give up on his first born.
