I don't quite get how Baltimore had alot of yards last night. They looked horrible.
They moved the ball, just missed all the field goals because they don't have our studly redzone offense.

Yet another reason to abolish the Field goals all together.

Field Goals make coaches reach for the Cialis.

I can't help but think that if Surtain had played the entire game, our total yards and total D would have been higher. When he went out they started moving the ball more through the air.

We're 7th.

Points allowed is the only stat that matters.

ok, i'm not too sure here, but aren't there only 32 teams in the nfl?

2+12+3+1+13+3=34, doesn't it?

did some teams win AND loose (cp spelling) the same game?

25th in D?

I would say the thing to remember here is that it is unimportant how many yards we gave up. When a team is playing from behind they are going to be gaining a lot of yards throwing trying to find some way to get back in the game. While this leads to more yards at the end of the game it also leads to more mistakes which was evident in the play of the jets throughout the game.

yeah, but our points allowed is skewed because the jets got into our red zone like what, 7 times?

and only scored one touchdown?

imo, that was due in large part to the fact that chadbaby couldn't hold onto the ball...

coles also couldn't hang onto the ball...

take away their turnovers, drops and missed fg's, and they score maybe 7 times...

well, maybe only 5 times - our d looked pretty good down by the goal line most of the time...

You got duped by the middle "passing" stat.

14 teams allowed over 100 yards rushing and 2 of them won. (2-12)

16 teams allowed under 100 yards rushing and 13 of them won. (13-3)

That's a total of 30.

Two teams play tonight.

yeah, i agree that's the best indicator for the quality of the run defense and 2.5 yards for a team with curtis martin, is amazing...

i think the run d might be ok now...

I'll never understand the fascination with raw yardage.

Stats that matter:

Points per game
Yards per carry
Completion percentage
Yards per pass attempt
Turnovers caused
Third down conversion percentage

Stats that don't matter: Total yards passing per game. Total yards rushing per game. Total yards per game. These are worthless stats. They tell you just about nothing.

Bob Dole would argue that you won't see a lot of winners week-to-week who have fewer than 60 yards rushing...

At this point who cares. 27-7. Great point about 2nd half giving up short yards.

Bend not break.
