And sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but DJ will not have an impact this year, not in his first year. I hope I have to eat my words, but I just don't know how anyone can expect a rook to come into the league and make that much of a splash.

Derrick Thomas started all 16 games his rookie year and had 10 sacks. No Johnson is not Thomas, but he could have an impact year.

At LB Bell - also had a huge rookie year.

As far as the secondary goes - I wonder what Gun thinks of Eric 'get shoved around by wideouts' Warfield. I still think he is the weak link on our D because he doesn't like to hit anyone. We are really going to see how good his coverage skills are this year.

Our starting should be Bell, Mitchell, and Johnson. The 3 most talented, and best LB's on the Chiefs imo.

I completely and whole heartedly disagree. Fujita and Barber are both better LB's than Mitchell, and should be in the starting lineup. If we play Mitchell at MLB again, teams will gash us up the middle all season. He has no instincts what so ever. A lot depends on Fujita and Barber's ability to recover from injury, but to sit either of those two for Kawika Mitchell would be mind boggling IMHO.

Actually, 1st round LB's more often than not do have a major impact their first year in the league.

Recent 1st round draft picks - Vilma, DJ, Dansby, Barnett, Dan Morgan (was looking good and then injured his 1st year), Kendrall Bell, Arrington, Urlacher, Peterson.

In the beginning of the season he showed some of that. But, late in the season, he was starting to come on, and looked pretty good. He was making plays, and improving his game. Mitchell is our only real MLB on our roster.

Kendrell Bell is just as "real" of a MLB as Kawika Mitchell is. As far as I am concerned, Mitchell is better suited to play the outside anyway because he cannot...CANNOT shed blocks.

Ok sorry, I shoulda been more specific. Mitchell is the only real MLB on our roster with the most playing time, experience, and talent. I think that is a lot. Enough to beat out Scanlon, Grigsby. Maz I think will get cut.

Kendrell Bell has never played MLB before in his life. he was playing right inside linebacker his whole career in a 3-4 defense in Pittsburgh. that's a big difference compared to playing MLB in a 4-3 defense. I agree Mitchell had his share of problems shedding blocks, but yeah, the partial blame for that is Mr. Ryan Sims for not taking up 2 blockers per play most of the time.
