The biggest fails in sports history

There have been some huge fails in sports with decision making. But one thing that I notice is that nobody ever talks about how the Chargers let Brees walk into free agency. He's gonna go down as top 5 of all time IMO. I think he's winning another Superbowl this year, he's just that good and he's in the zone.

You have the Herschel Walker debacle, Babe Ruth going to the yankees, Falcons trading Favre, Hornets trading Kobe and the Chargers letting Brees go.

but nobody ever talks about Brees. Why?

While they regret letting Brees go, I dont' think anyone would fault them for doing it. They couldn't afford to give two mammoth contracts for their QB--they chose to go for the guy who had less health concerns.

In my opinion, coaching more than anything has held the Chargers back, not QB play.
All the above absolutely right, except the "coaching thing", Schottenheimer did a great job there 14-2, he lost in the Playoffs, but not to any in game decisions. Just bad luck. At the time the Brees thing was smart thing to do. And both franchises would have a hard time debating otherwise. Rivers has been solid for them.

We would have wasted Marino. Miami had a Defense and Wide Receivers in place. Shula was a Coach, he not only drafted Marino. But also being on the Competition Commitee he lobbied and pushed through the " receivers bump" rule implemented the next season, that helped Marino pass for all that yardage and record setting TD at the time.

What made the situation worse was Marty running out a FA-to-be Brees out there when SD had been eliminated, sitting Rivers in the process. Brees tore up his shoulder, which is why Miami passed on him. Had SD placed a tag on him, even a transition one, they could have recouped something from the decision.

Todd Blackledge may be the single worst draft pick in the NFL history when you look at all the QB's we could have/should grabbed instead of him.

I''m starting to believe Sandusky might have porked him up the butt in the shower just before we drafted him and it ruined him forever!

To be fair, Marty never utilized Breed as he should have. Any time Breed was on a roll, Marty would inevitably take the ball out of his hands and start running it.

The worst part of it is for the Chiefs franchise it did a Bob Barker neutering or castraiting the balls for the Chiefs to draft a high round QBotf for this many years. Thus the "true fan" was born & the fear of picking a Todd Blackledge esk QB has dominated this franchise and fanbase. I call it the Todd Blackledge curse.

Nope, those god damn dirty ****ing donkos did during a meaningless week 17 game in San Diego.

Brees fumbled the ball into the end zone and dove for it and instead of going for the ball, one or two of the ****head donkos dove at Brees and tore his meniscus or something like that in his throwing shoulder.

Dont forget that they let Michael Turner walk, who went to Atlanta, Darren Sproles now with the Saints and they also released Wes Welker.

Some pretty crappy moves by their GM to say the least.

Watch this and tell me the Chargers made the wrong decision.

FWIW, the Chargers did offer Brees a contract that year, but the Saints gave him more years.
