River or lake?

Which setting do you prefer to camp in?

The river - Set up camp, grab your canoe or inner tube, a cooler of beer and sandwiches, and hit the river! Get back to camp, and heat up the fire.

The lake - Set up camp, grab the boat, a cooler of beer, and your fishing gear and hit the lake! Get back to camp, clean fish, and heat up the fire.

I'm torn. I love to go floating, but I love fresh fish. I think I'd have to go for the river. Nothing like a lazy day on the river, stopping to swim and eat, and then getting back on the river.

Love fishing the river, particularly when the water is up, but Kansas is gradually killing off access to it.

No preference for me. At least, I've never reflected deeply enough while I'm on one and the other to notice. As long as I can build a great white man fire, I'm good.

To me it has to be the lake. If you go to the river to camp you will have to pack all of your stuff up and have it with you or get a ride back to the campsite. And there is not much to do besides floating which is kind of boring to me. I hate trout fishing or eating them.
At the lake you can fish, ski, tube and it is easier to get back to your campsite.
I am lucky to live within 15 miles of 2 nice rivers, the Buffalo and the White and 2 nice lakes, Bull Shoals and Norfork.

This poll is skewed. The idea that you wouldn't be catching fish at the river is just absurd.

No more absurd than the idea that I'd be cleaning them.

River. When I was a teenager I went on a couple float trips on the Niangua. It was a good time on both occasions.
