My dad was 48 when I was born, my mom 36. When I was a child, I had red, RED hair, and my dad would tell everybody it was because the pipes were rusty when I was conceived.
The health factor is one to consider. Dad came down with cancer when I was 10. I new all about chemo treatments at a way too young age. But, every case is different. |

Personally, I think 30 is about the limit, but to each his own. I only wanted 1 child so I got "neutered" when I was 24 shortly after my son was born.

Adopted my son at age 36, wife was 35.....
3 years later my wife got pregnant at 38 and i had just turned 40..... We were told we couldn't have kids...so practicing birth control wasn't something we ever thought about...after that I had to get the old V-snip.... Age only matters when you don't take care of yourself.....her doctor told my wife, at age 39, she handled pregnancy better than gals 10 years her junior. mmaddog ******* |

If I had a kid, I'd probably be driving a minivan instead of a Mustang. I'll stick with the car - it won't try to put me in a home 30 years from now. |

I've got a story about this...
My dad had a vasectomy after his third boy. Two years after that, my parents got divorced. Two years after that, my dad remarried a wonderful lady and they decided that they wanted kids. Dad had the vasectomy reversal surgery... twice. They tried for about twelve years to have kids - going to the fertility clinic, etc - and it never happened for them. After 12 years, they both came to grips with the sad fact that they would not be able to have children together. About 4 years after they had given up, my step-mom wasn't feeling right. She thought she was going through early menopause but she got a home pregnancy thing, just to rule it out. It was blue. They got in the car and high-tailed it to the base hospital (my dad's a military retiree by this point) and went straight to the lab. My dad says, "We need to get a blood test for my wife to test for pregnancy!" The guy behind the counter says, "Sir, we're on a base-wide 'down day' today, so we're only here to cover emergencies." My dad doesn't miss a beat and say, "Son, I turn 50 years old in a week and a half." "Bring her on back, sir!" I'm 33... my little sister just turned 5. She's 6 months older than my son. You're too old to have kids when you can't take care of them or give them the love, attention, discipline, etc that they need. My dad and my step-mom are positively doting parents. Nobody could look at them and how they parent my sister and say, "You guys shouldn't have..." |

If I had a kid-
Shit, I don't even want to think about it. Although if my ex had have had a kid, it would've taken about a billion dollars worth of paternity tests to convince me it was mine. |

I can go one worse: When my son was about two years old I actually had a sober, coherent thought... and it said, "You know, mini-vans are actually pretty cool..."
In my defense, we had just driven from Las Vegas to Houston with a two year old in the back... |
