Based on nothing other than Reid's 2010 infatuation with his skill set coming out of college, I see him more as a Brian Westbrook or a Jason Avant.

DmC can still be productive though, get him in the open field where his quickness and speed can make an impact.

{runs away} I know there's still plenty of Cassel stink on this idea, and I know it's not one that is generally successful, but I did watch the games that Flynn played and I really was impressed by his skill set (as opposed to Cassel's, who I stated from the start I did not care for). I still want Geno, but we need 3 QBs in here and at least one of them needs to have been a pro for awhile. No, Flynn doesn't have a lot of game experience, but don't ever underestimate how important it is to have played football for a living. Every day he wakes up and it's all football, all day. He's been immersed in the NFL game really since Geno was in High School. Flynn does have some experience in this league that would be very valuable on this roster. I don't want to give up the farm for him, but his deal is actually very reasonble now that the signing bonus is covered by the signing party. If you're okay with spending a 3rd or 4th on a 2nd quarterback in the draft, why wouldn't you be okay with using a 4thish to acquire Flynn? He'd be a nice addition as a guy that can start if Smith isn't catching on or as a very valuable backup.

McCluster doesn't have anywhere close to the hands or awareness in space to be similar to Jason Avant.

We would not be ok with that because one of those choices (rhymes with "rat grin") has a known and not super high ceiling, while the other (draft pick) has what we call a "possibly Tom Brady" ceiling. We've spent our years playing it safe, and now we're going to do something else. |

I wholly endorse the high risk pick at QB; we have very little to lose there. But there's no need to do it twice. Get your HR pick made, then get a good, competent, backup/spot starter in there. I also think you're misstating when you say we know his ceiling and that it isn't very high. No, it's not Tom Brady, but it's Matt Schaub. If you could have Matt Schaub as a fallback position on this roster, wouldn't it make all the sense in the world?

Or size. . Avant is a much better NFL WR than DMC at this point. Not even close.

Is that who were picking between or is it really between Flynn and another QB in the draft? I hear what you're saying, just don't agree. |

Geno is your Brady, now you gotta find your experienced Mark Brunnel type guy who can keep the ship on course for small amounts of time. |
