Tom Heckert: Likely new GM...
According to multiple reports, if this deal gets wrapped, Heckert is in.
EDIT: Schefter reporting that Dorsey is also someone Reid wants to talk to. Thoughts? He's no Pioli, but have his moves with the Browns left you impressed? Quote:

His draft picks have built a pretty solid foundation on defense for Cleveland. Phil Taylor, Joe Haden, Jabaal Sheard and TJ Ward were very good draft picks IMO

More Cleveland rejects.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Looking forward to that top 5 pick again next season. |

ya at least it shows he's willing to do something to get the guy he wants. Trent Richardson is not a common RB.

Based on recent track record, John Dorsey in Green Bay is a better option.
Also Dorsey's history in Green Bay is as a college scout/Director of College Scouting... similar to what Dimitroff was with the Patriots. |

I really like the selections he's made defensively. He's certainly reached on picks offensively (Little, Weeden) out of necessity.

Dorsey is a possibility if Heckert falls through, but it sounds more likely that it will be Heckert. Dorsey is up for a number of jobs, and he may be harder to pry away if someone else is going to give him final say...

I tend to think Pioli would be out, but at least one person close to the Patriots speculated that Pioli might survive if Reid joins KC.
Quote:
It really comes down to whether Reid thinks Pioli is a good talent evaluator and can work with (and under) Reid in the same way he worked with (and under) Belichick. Another Boston sportswriter, Greg Bedard (who is relatively new to Boston and is not a Patriots toady) said on sports radio last week that "if you ask around the league, the general consensus is that he has upgraded the talent in Kansas City and has done a pretty good job with that roster, though obviously he has missed in the critical coach and quarterback spots" (not a direct quote, but very, very close). Not what you guys want to hear, I know, but that's what I've been hearing up here anyway.

Weeden, richardson, schwartz, gordon are studs. Benjamin is a nice player too.

Sounds like Reid is going to have most of the power on who the picks are. Any GM would be there to give Reid his advice and knowledge.

The only way Pioli would survive is if someone else hired both Heckert and Dorsey, which would mean that LaMonte wouldn't need to worry about those guys getting paid... |
