How many non-DC threads do you plan to post this in?

I'll give you credit - you may not be as dumb as I thought. Nice propaganda effort.

Silvio De Sousa is a KU basketball recruit from Angola, Africa who was declared ineligbible by the NCAA and will probably end up in the NBA. I don't really follow the KU basketball recruiting scandals, so I'm not sure why people are calling him a victim. I assume they're suggesting that he's been declared ineligible based mainly on actions taken by others rather than De Sousa himself, but I don't know. Keitzman's take questioning how much of a victim he really is seems to be about the fact that this guy will soon likely make millions in the NBA which isn't too bad for a young man who grew up in Angola.

This is accurate. KK has been on this train for a long time. The argument is that the athlete is the one getting screwed by the NCAA when their parents take money. Since the NCAA has no real authority over anything other than saying “This person can play, but this person can’t” it puts the athlete in a no win situation when their parents shop the player around.

KK doesn’t believe that because KU basketball players are treated like gods during their collegiate careers and DeSousa is likely going to make decent money in the NBA.

My opinion is that simply because the player gets to play at KU and will likely make a career for himself in the NBA, that doesn’t excuse the way the NCAA handles their business.

The problem with all of this is we should be able to have opinions without being accused of being racist. I am in support for choices. Choices are BIG with me. As long as people have a choice to do something, I'm not going to cry bloody murder about being exploited. The rules of the NCAA are clear. They are not a surprise. You know before you go or accept a scholarship what they are. And if you don't want to accept it, you don't have to. You can go to europe or china and make lots of money playing ball if you are a Top 30 player. You can just hang out and train and not even go to school to prep for the NBA draft. You can now even go to the G-league and get upwards of $100,000.

The NCAA doesn't have to do anything. They don't have to pay players. They don't have to do anything you think they should do. 99% of student athletes are OVER compensated for their role in college athletics. Why do we fret over the 30 that we like to cry about being exploited? There is lots of hidden value in a scholarship. Free room and board. Stipend. Free travel to Maui, NY, Atlantis and many other places. All-Star status on campus.. Get to use the best facilities. Get some of the best coaching and training in the world.

Isn't the issue here that we don't know that Silvio himself was involved in taking money? I thought the "victim" narrative was that he was a victim of the NCAA and his parents, but I admit I have only bothered with glimpses of this whole mess.
