NFL looks into porn event ad using NFL players (Berry...Flowers)

Five NFL players were featured in a recent advertisement for an Exxxotica Expo 2011 party in Miami last month. The problem: They were in uniform.

“The NFL office works on behalf of the clubs to protect their intellectual property rights in matters such as this” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told ABC-7 in Chicago, who broke the story.

The players in the ad who were said to be “hosts” of the party: Chiefs cornerback Brandon Flowers, Bears safety Major Wright, Chiefs safety Eric Berry, Texans cornerback Kareem Jackson, and Raiders wideout Jacoby Ford. (Here’s the ad.)

“Our legal team is reviewing the ad. In general, companies not affiliated with the NFL or its clubs may not depict a player in his uniform” said McCarthy.

The Bears said they are “troubled” by Wright’s usage and believe it’s an inappropriate use of their logo, so they alerted the league about it. They pointed out that sometimes players are unaware their images are used in such events, but ABC-7 calls Wright a “fixture” of the Miami party scene. Rookies like Daniel Thomas and Corey Liuget were also in the ad.

The event was billed as the official launch party for the Expo, which will take place in the Chicago area in July. It’s said to be the world’s largest gathering of porn stars in the world.

We know the NFL is losing advertisers because of the lockout, so perhaps they should embrace this as an opportunity.

A dwarf who appeared in the Harry Potter and Star Wars films is facing jail after indecently exposing himself to a schoolgirl on a train.

Nicholas Read, who stands 4ft 5in, sat next to the 17-year-old as he performed an indecent act.

The teenager told the court she was too scared to say anything and feared he could assault her.

Read, 40, who played an Ewok in the 1983 film Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and a Gringotts goblin in 2001’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, had drunk half a bottle of gin and was feeling ‘merry’. He covered his lap with a bowler hat he had been wearing and fondled himself.

He denied this, and claimed the hat was not on the overhead racks because he couldn’t reach them. Yesterday, when he stood in the witness box, he could barely be seen.

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was traveling on a train from London when Read sat in the aisle seat beside her.

Speaking from behind a screen, she said: ‘He placed his hat on his crotch. I saw a movement and I didn’t know whether to believe it. I looked in the reflection of the window and saw his hand moving under the hat. He tried to catch my attention, tilting his hat up, looking at his crotch area and then looking at me a few times.’

The behaviour continued for between 30 and 40 minutes of the 55-minute journey.

I do not see a problem with players being involved.. It is the off season, it is porn, everyone watches..

The only blame should be on the ad company that made the advertisements..

I see a big problem w/ players being involved w/ the advertising. It's just terrible PR for them and the team. I really don't think they are dumb enough to have it associated w/ it. I think they were most likely approached by someone and given some money to have their name assigned to it, and didn't know it was exactly a porn party.
