Interesting notes from Peter Gammons on SportsCenter right now... he says that Beltran had talked to other agents about Gammons doesn't think he'll leave Scott Boras. Gammons said Houston wants to re-sign him, the Astros players think he'll be a Yankee, and Astros management thinks he's going to use the Yankees to get a big deal with the Cubs. Interesting...
If he does end up in New York, I'll officially deam him a money grubbing prick, given how much I heard about how he didn't want to play there.

I guess I don't understand why we bought out Randa; dude was making 3.5 million for next year and is a solid glove. If only we could somehow trade Sweeney and Santiago...

His offense dropped off horribly though. He was complete dead weight in the lineup for the first half of the season, and still only finished with 8 homers and 56 RBI...didn't hit real well with runners in scoring position, etc. I can't imagine somebody is going to give him 3.5 million in the FA market unless it was somebody like the Red Sox who can blow money on defensive replacements.

I'd love to see the Red Sox make Youkilis their starter, Randa the backup, and the Royals swoop in and take Missouri native Bill Mueller in FA...

I'd like to see the Royals go after either Matt Clement or Derek Lowe.

I think Lowe probably made himself too expensive for us in the postseason.

It'd be hard to sell anyone on coming here for a chance to win.
