I'll have to disagree. Pena rarely makes a good call to the pen.

Unless Greinke was experiencing tightness or something, he should have been left in. 86 pitches thru 6? Come on. That kid can easily handle 100-110 pitches an outing going every 5 days. I've seen enough of Pena to know that he f's up the pitching as much as he does the lineup card. Honestly, I think the guy is way in over his head. jmo

What I fail to understand is why Pena pulls a starter that is dominating and does not have that many pitches. He thinks that 100 is some magic number that if a pitcher goes over or near before he begins and inning he must pull him. He fails to use his gut and seems to use some text book formula to manage. I can't stand that. As for Baker, the arm problems of Wood and Prior could be inpart becuase he let them throw but with power pitches like that they almost all break down at some point.

Pitchers like Walter Johnson, Steve Carlton and Nolan Ryan threw a ton of pitches and somehow their careers were not wasted with blown out arms.
