So what should I get? (Television)

I bought a new 36 inch HD TV in January of 04, two guesses why. Anyway I have had a lot of trouble (four break downs in 13 months) and have been successful in getting the manufacturer to take it back through Best Buy. ($1600) I do not like any projection TV that I have seen, thus I bought 36 picture tube model mentioned above. At that time the LCD units were well out of my price range. Does anyone have a recommendation? HD is a must, insights are appreciated and it has to come from Best Buy.

My father is looking right now. I can say that the DLP screens are probably the best picture quality I can see. I can always see the pixels no matter how good the TV (even compared to top models out right now), but the DLP screens are different and do not use the same RGB pixel tech like everything else.

However, if you are in the $4k and up range, I can say that the LCD projection screens have the sharpest picture from a distance (color vividness wise)

The deed is done, see post 28. Now only the second guessing to deal with.

To me picture is everything. I would always rather have a smaller picture with higher quality. Plasma's will start to approach their bottom in another 12 to 18 months. I am going to hold out till then. I love my Sony Trinitron Wega 36" flat screen, it just weighs a ton but the picture is better than anything that's not high definition and it's only $899

Congrats HemiEd!!! I'm kinda envious of your excitement of waiting for it to be set up!!! Enjoy!!!!!

Hey guys! Can I ask you experts a question or 2 about T.V.'s .... we leave here middle of Dec. for StateSide assignment and then retirement. Which means I'll be in the market for a T.V.

I'd love to have one of those $5,000 units but not quite possible on a missionaries salary.

I recieve CNET's newsletter emails. They have had a few issues regarding T.V.'s. One of those guys said that a CRT HD set really gave the sharpest picture. Is that correct information?

I think the prices will fall in the next year but if I were buying now I would get ... the Sony ... 30" Widescreen FD TrinitronŽ WEGAŽ HDTVKD-30XS955

http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...ture-KD30XS955

What do you guys think? I'm just trying to get educated. And after living outside of the country for a bunch of years it is going to take me a while to learn about all of this stuff!!!

Edit...

Oh, and if I buy I'll be looking at Best Buy or something that has a discount .... I'm just comparing types of T.V.'s and sort of a price range!!!!
