Green on Croyle.

It's the young guy's place to shut your mouth and pay attention. Not the vet's place to put his arm around the rookie and mentor him, it's the coach's job.

Sounds like he's not real eager to help develop Croyle. A little disappointing.

Green isn't worried about his job. Green knows there isn't another QB on the roster qualified to carry his briefcase. Green wants to win a SB. Green wants a defense. Green wants a possession wide out. Green just watched CP draft a QB in the third round after giving up millions to help the Chiefs build a D before everyone in the offense fucking retires. Green was asked a question. Green answered it.

Still no problem here with Green.

It depends 100% on the attitude and enthusiasm of the new hire for me. There are guys I sit and watch screw themselves over and there are guys I invite for a beer and talk over a better way they could have done something from my perspective. It totally varies.

I don't have a problem with his answer. I think he's well aware that Croyle isn't a threat to him. He's only a threat to Huard, Printers, etc. He's not a QBotF unless we switch to a west coast offense.

I think Croyle was a fantastic pick despite the fact that it was not defense. It would be a consensus great pick if Carl were doing anything for defense at all in free agency.

And I like the answer from Trent as well.

Trent said the exact same thing about young QBs last year during the draft, and he said it well before the Chiefs ended up taking Killian. His answer is his answer, it has nothing to do with him not wanting to help Croyle or any such thing.

he's basically saying in so many words that he's a lead by example guy... he's not going to go out of his way, he's going to make croyle work to get the info he needs--basically, weeding out the player if he doesn't put the work and dedication that TRENT GREEN put into football to make him who he is today...I think croyle will be a better player for having been 'mentored' by trent green in this fashion

Croyle needs to learn all he can from Trent. He is a professional on and off the field. Now if he can teach Croyle how to throw a block.

Croyle played in a Coryell offense in college, he should fit fine in this offense.

I have this philosophy.....

I will train any of my Team Members well enough that they could take my job, but continually re-invent myself so that I am a continuous valued asset to the company.

As disappointing as it might be I still respect Green because he has paid his dues; just because he recognizes the fact that it is not his job to baby sit the rookies doesn't mean he is any less a person or an athlete.

...Or a team player for that matter.
