Good, Plummer doesnt impress us either, nor cutler

Broncos | Cutler struggling; not pressing Plummer
Thu, 6 Jul 2006 16:38:21 -0700

ESPN reports Denver Broncos rookie QB Jay Cutler is struggling with the team's offense. He does not appear close to challenging QB Jake Plummer for the No. 1 quarterback spot

All I know is there hasn't been any negative reports out of camp about Brodie Croyle.

You mean Brodie has already grasped the entire KC O and is now directly in line to give Trent a serious challenge for the starting QB position, as well as making overtures at the OC position as player/coach?
I figure after 1 day in summer mini-camp that is about where a rookie QB should be.

I was ridiculing ESPN for acting as though an NFL rookie QB was not ready to start on day one of a 3-day summer minicamp.

If JSP thought I was directing sh*t his way he would have no trouble responding on his own, I assure you.

IMHO it is all about expectations. Alot of Bronco fans were excited about Cutler and have openly said they hope he becomes their starter this year. You haven't heard that from any Chief fans about Croyle.

Here's what I like about Jake:

He goes down easier than a cold beer on a hot summer day!

I understand what you're saying, but I think you guys may have serious problems here, Mr. vailpass.

I've always appreciated your straightforwardness and fairness as a goat fan, so I feel for you on this one. Clearly, this is the harbinger of a serious QB controversy for your team.

It may, in fact, be the beginning of a decade or more of dismal failure and dissapointment for the entire franchise. You will likely lose your coach, half your front office and assistants, as well as any chance for a respectable season for many years to come. Ticket prices will increase due to poor turnout at home games and there will be some suicide attempts, to be sure. I just don't see any way around it.

Nah, he's just conserving his energy for later. You may not have seen more than one or two in your lifetime but there are these things after the regular season called "playoff games"........

I see your point and agree with you where anyone said Cutler would start this year.

I am not aware of any Bronco fan in his right mind that thought, or wants, Cutler to be the starter this year.
I am excited to have Cutler on the squad in a learning capacity but in no way would I want a rookie to start.
Denver got within one game of the SB last year with Plummer, there is no QB controversy in Broncoland.

FWIW I remain on record as believing that Cutler will have a vastly superior career to Croyle. I liked Croyle's guts at 'Bama but the kid does not have the frame or the durability to make it big-time in the NFL IMHO.
(OK, maybe "vastly superior" is vastly exaggerating)
