Herm: Trent will be starter in 2007

Got this from rotoworld, here is the link they provided:

http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/2006/12...ference__1226/

Coach Herm Edwards said Trent Green would be his starting quarterback next season.
"Yeah, why wouldn’t he be?" Edwards asked. Talking about the position in general, Edwards said, "I think it would be a concern if you didn’t have a young guy in the wings. But that’s why we went out and drafted Brodie Croyle." For now, it looks like Kansas City won't seek out a veteran in the off-season.

Doesn't this define coach-speak?

A reporter, likely an annoying fat troll-like blob, asks a stupid question and Herm's forced to respond. He doesn't want to cause a stir, and he might not even know the answer himself. Thus, he rattles off some and starved fans like ourselves make too much of it. I'm not trying to slam anyone; this is the kind of crap we resort to when our team has missed the playoffs for the better part of a decade.

The interesting part of this to me, however, is that it sounds like Herm believes in the 'Bama kid. Unless this is even more bs...

Bob Dole wishes he had half the football insight of those who have already decided the long-term worth of Croyle.

Wow. Just, wow. How are you people not drawing a salary in the NFL?

i don't understand this attitude. I, as a Chiefs fan, am hoping that Croyle is the answer to our QBOTF problem. Some, on the other hand are so sure he is a bust. I have no real evidence to be so hopeful. But have even less evidence to be so pessimistically sure.

Couldn't agree more. I'm not going to take the time to go back through the threads, but I believe that quite a few people around here were pretty excited when Croyle was drafted.

Exactly. Considering how well Rivers and Cutler are playing for their teams, we damn well better wish Croyle is the real deal.

Croyle has too high INT/ATT percentage. 7 attempts with 2 interceptions, if you project that out over a whole season, he throws like 100 interceptions.

Well said Fankie ... several #1 pick QB's have washed out and there has been at least a couple late round picks that have been kinda good. Croyle has a chance ... especially given the fact he fell down the draft boards because of injuries/etc. ... He has a chance but he may blow it.

IIRC ... there were questions (and there still are questions ... since he has not "done it" over a couple of seasons) as to whether Cutler was a legit prospect. Cutler looks like the real deal for now but didn't Crouch look good for a few games???? So, you never know when it comes to QB's.

I wish Herm would give Croyle 3 or 4 series in the final game to help with his education. Herm is too focused upon being 9-7 ... I am focused upon preparing for next year.

If they don't do anything about the line it won't matter....well other than Trent takes more sacks than he probably should.
