Herm: Trent will be starter in 2007

Got this from rotoworld, here is the link they provided:

http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/2006/12...ference__1226/

Coach Herm Edwards said Trent Green would be his starting quarterback next season.
"Yeah, why wouldn’t he be?" Edwards asked. Talking about the position in general, Edwards said, "I think it would be a concern if you didn’t have a young guy in the wings. But that’s why we went out and drafted Brodie Croyle." For now, it looks like Kansas City won't seek out a veteran in the off-season.

Works for me. Green is still better than any 1 yr stopgap option and it gives Croyle 1 more year to learn.

This thread title is pretty misleading, actually. In my opinion, Herm dodged the question by posing a rhetorical question: "Why wouldn't he?"

Well, let me start. 1. Happy Feet. 2. Back-foot passes. 3. He'll be 62...

In all honesty, what's Herm expected to say? "No, this will be his last game."

Let this be a lesson in coach-speak.

Upgrade the offensive line, upgrade the WR position and give Trent the opportunity to get back to doing what he was doing in the past (i.e. attacking downfield) and I'm all for Trent entering 2007 as the starter.

I'm already sick of Brodie Croyle. He is never going to be a starting caliber QB in the NFL. He is Pat Barnes Part II.

I don't think its coach speak. As of right now he is the starter.
You think Croyle is ready?
Huard gets the nod for next season before he's even signed for next season?

A lot can change this off season. No need to throw Trent under the bus, yet. Which is what he would have been doing if he answered it any other way.

The happy feet and back-foot passes can be fixed by fixing the Oline.
I don't see age as an immediate concern at this time.
The real issue, IMO, is the accuracy since returning from the concussion. Trent has been waaaaay off on the easy stuff. Some of it may be timing and rythym that will improve with more practice together but the passes that bounce at the receivers' feet are worrisome. I really wonder if Trent's egg may be permanently scrambled.

Wrong. There are always QBs of Huard's ability available if a change is necessary. Lots of QBs could come in and hand off to LJ and hit Gonzalez on the intermediate routes. Assuming he is healthy, Trent gives us a chance to do more.

Is it just a coincidence that we won games by doing the above mentioned when huard was in there? Atleast we were winning games and looking competitive while huard was playing!

green has litteraly lost his mind! Hes lost it!
