Bethpage is designed by A.W. Tillinghast, a great course designer. If you want to play one of his courses you need to drive no further than Swope Memorial in KC. Swope is a GREAT course. In fact, it's one of Tom Watson's favorite courses in the world. Not a bad endorsement. It's public, too, and green fees are pretty cheap. |

Did you see when Jacobsen walked that part of the fairway? He thought they'd have to take relief 50 yards away. It was a total swamp. The rules allow relief. Why be penalized by hitting a good shot into an unplayable area?

Yes I did see Jacobsen on the opening part of the broadcast. If it's too wet, then it should be postponed. Does the R and A allow that relief in the British Open?
