Sam Bradford out for the year

Sam Bradford-QB-Player Oct. 21 - 3:33 pm et

ESPN's Joe Schad reports that Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford will announce Wednesday that needs season-ending shoulder surgery.
The next question is whether Bradford will enter the 2010 NFL Draft coming off a lost season. A case can be made both ways. Bradford, who's injured the AC joint in his throwing shoulder twice this year on nearly identical plays, could possibly still be a mid first-round pick if he has the operation and checks out well at next February's Combine. He could also return for his senior year and attempt to rejuvenate his draft stock.

I don't watch much college football - I work Saturdays - but if I'm understanding this thread correctly, Bradford is a talentless bum who cost himself millions upon millions of dollars by not entering the draft last year. Is that about the size of it?

I don't know if I'd say he's talentless.

Pretty much he put up gawdy stats with all world protection and receiving talent last year and would have been drafted high.

He came back, after a lot of his talent is gone and gets broken. Twice. Costing himself lots a money.

It's a great position to be in.

Tell me you're joking.

He'd be another Brodie Croyle. He'd be good, but he'd be injured at the drop of a hat. He was good, but he had a solid o-line and talent around him, too.

He won't slip in the draft at all. As long as he shows off his arm in Indy he will go top 10 for sure. He's got nothing left to prove in college anyway. H e should have left last year.

Injuries and lack of arm strength aside, Bradford is a system quarterback that has never demonstrated any ability to make NFL quality reads and throws. Completion percentage is completely irrelevant when he is making easy passes to wide open receivers due to Oklahoma's spread offense. He plays in a system that creates extremely easy throws and even easier reads. This is a system that made Jason White a Heisman winner.

Bradford is a player with a ton of question marks and limited upside. Even if he doesn't have any permanent damage, no one is drafting him high in the first round.

I always thought he was too slow dropping back from center to be any good in the NFL. Not that it's something he couldn't work on. I was always amazed people were saying he could be the number 1 pick after his sophmore year. Espeically when I saw him play in high school and he did nothing to impress me at all. I think he benefited from having a great Oline and good offensive talent. If he would have stayed healthy, he would have been exposed this year. I think even he knows he's not good enough for the NFL which is why he stayed. I wouldn't be suprised to see him come back to OU next year to be honest. He has something to prove or he could possibly be a second or third round pick next year. Maybe even lower. Hamas is right. I don't think scouts will be impressed when he works out.

That being said he seems like a good kid and is a good college QB. Hate to see anyone get injured regardless if I'm not an OU fan.
