Yeah, having them match would be a huge dealbreaker for me.

It pisses me off that I dropped over 2 bills for that shtibag LJ's authentic. Hopefully they do have actual nameplates that match.

I got baseball jerseys from exclusivepro. I begged the guy in an e-mail to tailor a jersey for me and he wouldn't do it.

The nameplates are only $5.

Problem is, they are 4x12.

The one on the back of my authentic is 4x17.

Which is fine, because BERRY is a short enough name, but it means I have to be REALLY careful removing the old one.

I'm already concerned about how the numbers are going to look removed - if they'll be any stitching marks left behind.

I'm going to buy a seam ripper tomorrow and VERY slowly and carefully start trying to remove the numbers.

Didn't Dexter McCleon wear #22?

I hope we didn't get an equally shitty Dexter Mc_____ moved over to that number.

I think if you are in the league listed at one position, the following seasons you can keep your number even if they list you at a different position.

Not sure on that tho....

Update:

Looks like you can spend $20 on a kit, $5 for a nameplate, plus shipping and the cost of having it all sewn on, or you can spend $75 to have it done by the company that does the vast majority of pro uniform lettering in the US.

I called them today, and the only caveat is that they do NOT strip the old numbers/letters - they only do blank jerseys.

Do you have a direct link for the Chiefs home jersey numbers and nameplate? I have a local tailor that can re-stitch it for me. I looked on the site but couldn't find it.

Through Liebe?

They don't sell kits, to my understanding. They take the order and then laser-cut tackle twill to the specs of the authentics, then sew it on.

Sorry, Frank. I think I see the confusion.

I've edited my original post.

The $20+$5+shipping was from Eastern Lettering who we discussed earlier in the thread.

Finally got around to stripping the rest of my LJ authentic, and went over to Liebe to get things started.

I was quoted $50, and decided to go old school.

DELANEY - 37.

Told me it would take two weeks or less.

Just an FYI...

It takes about 45 minutes to carefully remove a nameplate from an authentic.

And it does leave behind faint stitch holes, so you have to make sure you have the same size name plate to replace it. The one on my authentic is 4" by 17".

I'm guessing the numbers are going to leave marks as well, so I'd think it through before making a dramatic change.

I'm debating on changing my LJ to either Berry or going old school with Joe Delaney - that way at least one number will stay the same.

Also, something I didn't know about authentics:

The nameplates are actually felt-backed.

You know, I have never bought myself a jersey.

If I did, I would definitely go with an old school name.

My wife has bought me jerseys as gifts and knows me well enough that she has done the same.

Unfortunately, she doesn't know any of the old school defensive players.
