So a German Pub just opened up downtown
And I want to go to it after the BBQ fest tonight. But I've never had German beer. I think I want a Pilsner. Is that what I should say to the bartender? I don't want to get laughed at. Thanks in advance.

Actually, in Germany, if you want a pilsner, you can just say "pils" and they know what you are talking about.

I'm partial to wheat beers - or weizens. Paulaner, Franziskaner and my favorite, Maisel's.

Don't order Warsteiner. That's the Coors Light of German beers.

This, this, and this. I strongly recommend hefeweizen. If you'd prefer a darker weizen, just ask for a dunkelweizen.
