No, Paul Brown designed the prevent defense to force opposing offenses to move the ball in small chunks, using up the clock, when his team had big leads late in games.

NFL coaches in thier near ultimate dumbassery, decided it was a good idea to use it when they were protecting a lead late in tight games.

What it has done is create some of the greatest comeback QBs in the last 30 years.

That's the reason we look at prevent defense and say it only prevents you from winning.

It's a losing strategy when you're protecting a 7 point lead or less with two minutes remaining because it allows teams to move the ball almost at will, and the rule to allow the QB to spike the ball to stop the clock allows teams plenty of time to score.

That was one week out of four for the month. Not dampening a bit to me...

How about the fact that the Chiefs were 2-2 during this month?

Cassel's best statistical month = .500 record against four teams with losing records?

STATS ARE FOR LOSERS

He's been doing things that he didn't do well, or couldn't do consistently, in the past.

All of that is conducive to continued success. Keep it up, Matty. I am cautiously optimistic, but reserve the right to flame his ass if he shits the bed down the stretch.

Good post but a waste. He sucks from the Teet of Hamas and even ****s that up. His football evaluation is some of the worst on the board.

Feels good, doesn't it, that for the first time in decades the Chiefs might have a coaching staff that can DEVELOP a QB.

So is it better to put up great numbers or win games....cause through the first seven games.... I kinda got the impression that winning wasn't that important.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).
