Question for you men

UPDATED:

Got an area reserved at my dad's favorite sports bar, and I have some guys at the post office helpig me spread the word about his surprise. I've got my uncle, aunt, and one of my cousins coming so far, too. I got him a Chiefs Safari Hat, but he knows he's getting that since it's the only thing he's asked for.

Surfing online. Looked at the complete MASH series on DVD, and looked at MacGyver as well. Still surfing and thinking of ideas for something that he doesn't know he's getting.

Oh, and I have a slightly higher budget. Looking at about $150 or so.

Roll the poem up and tie it with a red ribbon. Place next to a bottle of 50-year old scotch and he'll remember this moment for as long as he lives.
This is a good, creative, fairly inexpensive (depending on the hootch) idea. I like it. Maybe include a picture of the two of you together in a nice frame (preferably not one where you're falling down drunk ).

well, for me personally, I don't find my cigars addictive at all. I usually either have one before/after the Alabama game each week, or one as I listen to Chiefs postgame out on the porch. Just depends on the mood.

now, as far as the carcinogenic effects, that's a different story.....

Judging from the pictures of last weekend, you guys like to drink.

Get him a nice bottle of his favorite liquor or something.

If he's 60, he was born in 1951. Buy him a DVD set of some TV show that he liked when he was 10 or so. My Mother The Car or one of those variety shows.

Or better yet, a steak dinner at the best restaurant in town with his favorite child, whichever one that is.

Don't judge by one weekend. He had a total of nine beers the entire day, and I typically only have a couple of beers and some soda.

The gifts I enjoy most from my children are the ones that are related to both them and I. For instance, my youngest son made me a coffee cup in Pottery class. We both play World of Warcraft and he made a WoW themed mug. It has his rendition of a specific emblem on the side. And because he was twelve when he made it, it looks like something an Orc would use. It's great. I'm using it right now.

The gift should reflect something about both of you. When he looks at it, if the thought pops into his head that it's something that only you would give to him, you've done a good job picking a present. If you are thinking of a cane, I would suggest a walking stick instead:

I like the walking stick as a gag gift, but $45 is pricey for a gag gift. And I'm not 12. I'm nearly 35. Making mugs and writing poems just seem like they're better when their done by young children. I do, however want to put some thought into something that I get. I'm taking suggestions just to see if anything triggers an idea that I could take and make my own somehow.

EDIT: It appears that this is not the best idea. What would you suggest? Nothing sports or grill related. I am trying to think of something different, yet useful. He's been having a few problems with a hip. I should get him a cane...lol.
Meh, just get him a gift card for a high class call girl.
