Did you dig his red shoes? He played a couple years in Arrowhead on the "Astroturf." Lots of Chiefs players wore the red shoes on Astroturf.

That catch he made against Pat Fischer of the Redskins was a one handed grab. I was in that end zone. That was right in front of me.

The guy who was throwing the ball was pretty decent, too.

#89 was one of a kind.

By the numbers its more perplexing why Robinson is not in the HOF. The voters and the vets committee are all about numbers. Otis had 3 all-pro seasons which by today's standards seem pale. He had one other excellent season while his rest were rather ordinary.

And LeBeau and Boyd played corner, not safety.

Johnny Robinson had more interceptions than any other safety during his career. And he's not in the HOF.

The man played more games, caught more passes, gained more yards (total and per catch average) than Lynn Swann.

How about comparing him to another Hall of Famer who played at the same time Taylor did? Well Taylor AND Gale Sayers were both drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 1965, with Sayers obviously choosing the NFL route with the Bears, where he played in just 3 full seasons (68 games total), gained 1,000 yards rushing twice, scored 56 touchdowns, and played on only two winning teams. But looking at Sayers' numbers and longevity completely distorts what he really was - one of the greatest running backs in NFL history. Watch just 20 seconds of footage and you know he was great.

It's the same with Otis Taylor. Watching that video reminds you that this guy was a special football player who deserves just as much as those other two guys to be enshrined.
