I actually wanted him at KSU. I wanted Snyder to bring him in as OC for a couple of years while he got the team respectable then hand the job over to him when he retired again.

Doesn't seem like a good match, though.

Snyder is winning through the smartest football I think I've ever seen. Simple, effective, boring shit that just refuses to backfire. They never hurt themselves at all.

Leach, OTOH, is a mad gunslinger that sees turnovers as a fact of life. He and Snyder would have been at each other's throats. Further, I wonder if that KSU defense has enough talent to make up for the amount of time they'd be on the field and the short fields they'd have to deal with w/ fair frequency.

They just don't seem to work together.

I don't think the PAC-12 is a weaker conference than the Big 12. On the contrary, Leach grabbed a head coaching job in what will be one of the likely new megaconferences. Think of how smart this move will look when OU/UT finally leave for the PAC.

It's not a direct comparison because Washington State is a better football school, but it may in fact be illustrative of the Big 12's diminished profile nationally.
