Vikings do five-year, $25 million deal with John Carlson Posted by Evan Silva on March 14, 2012, 1:04 PM EDT John Carlson The Minnesota Vikings hosted tight end John Carlson for a free agent meeting on Wednesday, and they didn’t let him get out of town. Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com reports that Carlson has agreed to terms with the Vikings on a five-year, $25 million contract. The deal reportedly contains $11 million in guaranteed money. Per Caplan, the Chiefs wanted to sign Carlson “badly” on Tuesday, but the Vikings swooped in and blew him away with Wednesday’s offer. It’s a lot of money for a tight end who underwhelmed before 2011, and then missed all of last season with a shoulder injury. Look for Carlson to play alongside fellow Notre Dame alum Kyle Rudolph in Minnesota’s two-tight end sets. |

And again if it means not signing marginal players to ridiculous contracts...I'm fine with it.

I've made sarcastic posts in this thread. Am I upset that John isn't coming here? Not in the least. I'm upset with the bigger picture aspect of the Chiefs problems. |

As of right now the Chiefs have two or three significant FA's coming to town to visit with the team. If in May we have no significant FA's signed...I'll believe the organization has a black eye.

11 million guaranteed on a 25 million dollar contract seems pretty high too

Bennett to NYG. Glad they didn't get Carlson. I'd go after the same type of player in Kevin Boss for less money. Depending on his injury. Believe he was released by the raiders or was rumoreed to be cut. Haven't heard anything on Kellen Davis visiting anyone.

The Chiefs reportedly went after Carlson to bolster their 2 TE attack.
Think about that one for a moment. Let it sink in a bit..... ..... THAT'S RIGHT, KIDDOS! This mother****er is completely incapable of coming up with his own idea. He's going to watch what Belichick does, then try to copy it here 2 years later. He's trying to install a 2 TE package when we have precisely zero TEs we can count on! Nah, let's not try to build around our personnel or anything - poppa Bill did it this way. That's it. That's his mother****ing plan. Copy what the Patriots do. Jesus tapdancing Christ I hate this guy...
