I could be wrong (maybe it was said previously, I didn't read the replies)... but, I think their mentality and character are likely very very different allowing Gannon to do things after a few years of failure that Quinn is simply not capable of doing.

Of course there is a chance. To say otherwise is pretty short sighted. Perhaps he has been humbled and has worked harder on learning the game instead of just relying on raw talent. Someone posted he sits in the pocket and takes forever to make a decision, but hey that's an upgrade for us! A QB that actually surveys the field!

So he sucked in Cleveland. So what, who hasn't? He never got a chance in Denver because of Tebow Mania, and in both Denver and Clevland he never really had anything to work with. Here, he is stepping into a job wih a top 10 O-line, one of the best RB's in the league, and a great group of receivers. Match that with Daboll not having to limit the Offense anymore since Cassel and his weak ass arm isn't there, and I think we could possibly have something. He was a 1st round pick for a reason, and opportunities don't get any more ideal than the one that is in KC right now. If he is any sort of the baller people thought he was coming out of ND, I think we may have a surprise on our hands...

I agree that he never really had a fair shot in Cleveland or Denver. He's got all the tools here to succeed - give the kid a shot. If he stinks, we draft better. If he turns things around, seriously, it's not like we'd need 11 more wins to take this shit division.

I do feel bad for Quinn, much as I felt bad for Romeo. Cleveland was/is just not a good place. I hope that one of 3 things happens, however unlikely.
A) Quinn steps in, performs wonderfully, we make it to the AFCC game and have a good showing from Quinn, proving that he is a new QB who is finally developed and ready to lead a team on deep playoff runs B) Quinn sucks and helps us get Geno Smith C) Quinn sucks, Stanzi starts and either leads us to the AFCC game or sucks and gets us Geno Smith. Option C is the least likely scenario. I hope that if Quinn has success, it is at a high level, not piddling around and helping this team go 7-9 to 9-7 and enter the playoffs, get smashed, and ruin our chances of getting Smith or even Barkley/Wilson. So, for me to truly want Quinn to succeed, he better make ****ing clutch throws on 3rd and long, go through progressions, and look like a 1st round QB who has had time to analyze the game and be much improved from when he first entered the league. Simply being adequate isn't enough at this point and will be more detrimental in the long run than Quinn just sucking, IMO. |

Gannon was a below average passer with above average running skills in a system optimized for him. You could scheme against him by guarding the field between the hash marks, since he didn't have the arm to throw outside beyond 10 yards. Tampa broke the code and after that Gannon had no other option. Grueden could never get that scheme cooking in Tampa. Why? Because it was a gimmick that wasn't that hard to crack. Geez, aim higher people. Sometimes I think this fan base is afraid of getting a real QB.
For a QB, if you don't think your guy is a future HOFer, you have the wrong guy. It's as simple as that. |

If Gannon was below average, WTF is Cassel?
