Will the Chiefs make the playoffs this season?

No, i dont like the trade, but thats what this move indicates to me. Reid sees a team that can win right now. If they dont make the playoffs, its another wasted year.

It appears Reid isnt willing anymore to go through the ups and downs of a young rookie QB.

Sigh.......

Nope he didn't, because he invested WAY TOO MUCH. (Nobody is talking about reports that we gave up 4 draft picks for Alex Smith)
I have absolutely no hope that Reid will draft Geno Smith, Matt Barkley, Tyler Wilson, or even the project EJ Manuel.

He will draft Landry Jones or some small school QB in the 5th round as our backup.

This is the end.

I don't think it is Reid at all. It is a mandate from ownership, plain and simple, regardless of what they spew in public.

Perhaps. Would not shock me one bit.

No, I don't think Smith is going to come here and win 13 and the division, but I won't be surprised if they win 9 or 10 this season.

I hate this trade, and wanted Geno, but bleeding vaginas like yourself are just making things worse.

If you're done. Leave.
I have already been accused of being a MULT? Or a troll, of which i am neither, if there are any 49er fans here from the 49ers board, my account there was snoopy91579 and i was run off and banned for being an Alex Smith supporter. I really value what this guy brings. people talking about him being a dump down qb, he threw 10 ints in the last two years, and had a 13-3 record with a team that started Michael crabtree, (called out as fat by jerry rice following the nfccg loss) braylon edwards, and kyle williams, who ultimately cost the 49ers a shot at the super bowl.

I truly believe that if you guys can keep bowe, with bowe, moeaki, baldwin, and charles that in the weaker AFC the chiefs can win 10 games. Provided of course that the defense stays healthy. People talk about Alex Smith being supported by a stud defense. Alex Smith was a part of that. The 49ers always played with the short field because they didnt turn the ball over, utilized the running game, and took the safer play, not always the bigger play. Hes not rodgers, hell hes not even Joe Flacco, or matt ryan. What he is, is a winner, a leader, and understands his limitations, and understands the values of letting play makers, make plays. There wasnt a qb in this draft from the top rated, geno smith, to the bottom of the barrell, that was that big of a difference. Andy reid can draft a guy later that he likes, have him learn under alex smith for two years, and then take over. the chiefs were 2-14. Geno Smith might be great, or he might not be. At least with alex smith you know there is improvement to be had.

I could see him grabbing tyler bray. He seems to fit the Nick foles mold. Big huge arm, just needs a lot of coaching. Which he can get from andy, and alex smith.

Andy Reid has liked alex smith since his college days. Andy Reid thinks that he can take the chiefs from 2 wins to the playoffs with Alex Smith, and can also groom his qbotf while winning games.

Alex Smiff is not going be any better QB and more than likely to regress here. God I hate this transaction. His concussion and injury prone should have kept him from this trade. God I hate this ****ing deal. ****ing hate it.

Said the same thing. It's the 90's all over again. We'll be too afraid to even watch the playoffs.

I don't think they will go to the playoffs, but this really is a "win now" move. Giving up a pick that high in the 2nd and whatever it is exactly that we give up next year says that you are trading future potential for something. If that something isn't "win now" then what the hell is it?

It ends up being a "win enough to put butts in the seats" move more than a "win now" move.

No.

They'll win 7-9 games, be a mid-pack team, pick 17th in the draft and remain wholly irrelevant. They're still not better than the Broncos and with a competent head coach, the Chargers are going to be better than us again as well. We'll probably play dead .500 ball in the division and manage to do slightly better than that against our last-place non-divisional schedule.

And in 2014 when we have to go back to playing an adult schedule, we'll drop to 5-6 wins, still not have a decent QB, rinse, repeat.

then you are a ****ing reerun. shut the **** up, because no one should love mediocrity this much. the chiefs just traded two draft picks for the same QB that was already on the roster. "i want a qb who's been in the league because i'm too scared to draft one." that's you, you ****ing moron. you'd settle on one of the worst starting qbs in the league, because some dipshit at espn told you there isn't a good qb in this class.

i'll tell you what, i'll admit i'm wrong, and apologize to you ****ing down syndrome babies that don't get it, when A.Smith outperforms every qb in this draft. you understand that, or is that thought too complex for your obviously learning disabled brain? even though i am of the super bowl or bust mentality, i'm so ****ing confident this loser will fail miserably, i don't even need him to get to the super bowl for me to admit i'm wrong. i guarantee there will be a qb, from this draft class, that outperforms him, that we passed on, because we were taking the "wait and see" approach. **** that. i've waited, and i've seen. i'm done.

The question that should be asked every year "Does a team have a shot at winning a superbowl?"

If the answer to this is in the negative, then nothing else matters.

Well, bye.

And A. Smith will outperform every QB in the draft this year. Only one "may" end up starting this year.
