The other thing I hate is that we are "close to Branson". I hate Branson.

In 20 years, Springfield is going to be a suburb of the Branson metro area. Brace yourself.

A perk would be located near a nice trail system as I am a runner. Also like my space...not a fan of small city lots. Schools and Safety are top priority for me....

I met my extended family at Branson a few years back, and I was embarrassed to tell anyone I was going. But I have to admit, it was actually pretty good. I liked Silver Dollar City and we saw some re-enactment of American expansionism at the Dolly Parton Show while eating Civil War food.

Great family town. Crime rate is rock bottom (I have been a victim of a nighttime car window smashing and a stolen wallet in the ~20 years I've been here -- and that's it), housing is super cheap, especially if you look for homes in Nixa or Ozark. They're about 10-15 minutes away from the southside of town by highway, but you can get a nice home with a fantastic price.
Schooling is good enough. Greene County has demolished the spending on education, but we've still managed to make huge investments at all our area high schools, which all look phenomenally better than they did when I went to high school here. I live by the Ozarks Greenway Trail. Run there every week. There aren't a lot of trails for running in the city, but there are more than a few. My favorite place to run is in this hilly set of trails at Busiek Park which is about 15 minutes south of the city by highway. |
