Eddie Vedder still butt-hurt over Seattle Supersonics
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdhlUyKe7Jo
The Oklahoma City Thunder is in its sixth season in the city, but Seattle resident and Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder still has some hurt in his heart toward losing his beloved Seattle Supersonics. Performing at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte last Wednesday, Vedder had some choice words about the Supersonics moving to Oklahoma City in 2008. The Charlotte Observer’s review of Vedder’s performance said “Vedder’s patter was kept to a minimum, but left an impression.” “He made light of the fact that Pearl Jam hadn’t been through Charlotte in 10 years: ‘To be honest, we might be a bit upset because you have a basketball team and we don’t.’” Bitter much? The Lost Ogle obtained video of Vedder’s expletive-laden ramblings, complete with the grunge rock godfather replacing the word Thunder with a similar-sounding cuss word. Many times (WARNING: Inappropriate language). Vedder’s Oklahoma connection runs deep, as the original name for Pearl Jam was “Mookie Blaylock.” Yes, Vedder first named the band after the former OU guard. The best part about Vedder’s basketball-fueled rant? Pearl Jam is slated to perform in Oklahoma City at the Chesapeake Energy Arena Nov. 16. What are the odds Vedder sees his fair share of Thunder T-shirts as he looks out into the crowd? |

That would be true for me.
Are we really slamming someone for holding a sports-related grudge? For seriously?...

What cuss word sounds similar to "thunder"?

Maybe they wanted a small experiment with some punk cords and punk rock chorus? Some of us may like punk rock. I personally wish more on that album had that feel.

After the quote in the OP, he says 'we should be mad at those ****ers... I mean Thunder... those Thunder ****ers'.... and that's the whole "expletive-laden basketball-fueled rambling/rant" full of bitter hatred.

I can only imagine the butthurt in Cleveland when the Browns left, then won a title 4 or 5 years later.

When you have shitty ownership, who really just cares about profit margin, in a city largely indifferent to sports, you get the SuperSonics.

It's pretty simple, you have to build an arena every so often or the team will leave to play in one that isn't a dump.
