Police responded to the Wendy's at 43rd and Dodge around 9:20 Tuesday night for an armed robbery call. Deputy Chief Dave Baker said shots were fired. He said the suspect died. The COPS employee was taken to Nebraska Medical Center.

We do not know who shot the suspect or who shot the COPS employee. We also do not know what condition the COPS employee is in.

That show has been on a long ****ing time...surprised this hasn't happened before.

As a side note...this thread has it all....cops shooting people, Omaha, Warren Buffet, Wendy's and more.

I don't want to turn it political, but you can see the spin. The guy was a parolee from Kansas, so who knows what he was doing here. Don't know his race. BUT...the cops were the only ones shooting actual bullets, the TV show guy is dead which means he was shot by a cop, the perp had an airsoft gun and over 30 rounds were fired by police.

Like I said, this is going to get BAD.

Doubt it. The perp was probably a white guy and it's totally fine to shoot white people. That and he's pointing a gun at the officers. To the cops defense, it may have been pretty difficult to determine if it were real or fake. I know i wouldn't want to wait to find out.

Agreed. But I can just hear it now...why did they have to shoot over 30 times? How did they shoot the camera man? Are they just a bunch of trigger happy crazy bastards?

Come on, you know the deal.

I'm reserving judgement, but I can see this going very badly PR wise for the Omaha PD.

It does sound like quite the cluster****, it will be interesting to hear about how TV guy managed to get himself in the line of fire. But at least no one can play the "no criminal record" card for the suspect in this case. I think it's safe to say at this point that society is better off without that scumbag.

You don't know enough about this to make any assumptions. Do you know how many people were firing? 30 rounds fired could be 6 guys shooting 5 rounds each or 2 guys firing 15 each. If it was one guy that fired 30 shots, then yes. That may be an issue.

I don't think it's all that unreasonable to think that maybe some bored cops in Nebraska got a chance to play Commando on camera and it got out of hand. The fact the camera/sound guy got shot by a cop makes it look like there was some wild shooting going on.

Don't be ridiculous. Omaha cops see plenty of shit on a daily basis. We don't ride around on horseback with our spurs jingling FFS.
