Coaching has improved

While the Chiefs did get off to a very ugly start, I have to give it to the coaching staff that they have shown some big improvements over last season.

I would say that the best, and the biggest change this season is the rotation of players, on both sides of the ball. Last season, Sutton coordinated this defense like it was a Madden contest with the fatigue turned off. We rarely saw anyone come out of the game, and in the fourth quarter the guys were just worn out.

This year looks a lot different. We've still got guys going full steam in the fourth, and even though we don't have the greatest players at some positions, having fresh legs can often times make a huge difference in the caliber of play.

Offensively, I haven't seen that much creativity with the playcalling and the formations since Vermiel and Saunders were here. I saw plays last night that Ive NEVER seen the Kansas City Chiefs run, and many of them were big plays.

If this is a sign of things to come, where our offense and our "game manager" quarterback can roll up over 300 yards of offense in ONE HALF against what was supposed to be the main strength of the opposing team, we have a chance to be a pretty scary team down the road.

Clock management in the 2-4 minute range is still God Awful, and I just cant understand why. Clearly Andy Reid is a smart guy. You know how long your plays should take to get communicated, and then executed. How you just let 30 seconds burn off the clock before you spend a timeout when you have an opportunity to score on a defense that has shown NO ability to stop you whatsoever is just beyond me.

The Chiefs are clearly still a work in progress, but Im definitely liking what Im seeing. Constant switching of personell and formations on offense to keep the defense reacting instead of attacking, and a damn solid rotation on defense to keep our guys fresh and able to attack even late into the fourth quarter.

Seems he's not only calling plays based on our strengths, but also staying away from what we all seem to see as our weaknesses.

This is a known issue with Reid. I honestly think he should just let Smith run the 2 minute O. Just let Smith call the plays from the huddle or no huddle. Smith could do that very easily and it would certainly be better than the cluster "F" that's going on there now at the close of halfs and games.

Kelce has great hands. Reid's clock management still sucks but his play calling has definitely improved.

Why not let alex be in control of the two minute. It would seem to kill the confusion.

It looked like Alex was contemplating taking a TO there but he didn't. He should have just taken it. Not blaming him though.

It was pretty smart of belicheck to run te offense back out in that punt fiasco. If i ha fourth and short around midfield, I'd try that more often.

Clock management still an issue. Should've had a touchdown right before the first half, instead they were lucky to barely get a field goal

Yes terrible clock management at the half, but in the big scheme of things that 3 points didn't matter either way. The Patriot's sucked the entire game...we only sucked in a one minute span.

Yea, but in a closer game it could have been huge.

It seems like Reid didn't understand that getting the clock under a minute is enough time burned to stop Brady. He just kept burning clock until 30 second left. Oblivious to the entire concept.

Then Reid had the ballz to yell at Bowe for not staying in the endzone.

Yes, Bowe should have run the route 1 yard deeper to give himself room to come back. That wouldn't have been an issue if Reid wasn't so incompetent when it comes to the clock. We should have had plenty time left.

Reid doesn't even seem to understand that there is a problem.

NFL network discussing an issue that Andy Reid has always had with clock management. They felt that not having a true OC hurts him with clock management. Said that any time the tv cuts away to show Reid, he has his face buried in the giant play sheet.

Brad Childress was mentioned last night being spread coordinator or whatever. I hadn't noticed until it was mentioned that we really have incorporated some spread elements into the WCO. Andy Reid is modernizing I guess.

inexcusable imo

assign somebody on the staff that's already there doing quality control or something to whisper on the headset 'slow it down' or 'speed it up'.

'we need to call a timeout here before the 2 minute warning'

general shit like that

No reason for this to continue to be a problem after a decade in the NFL unless Reid just doesn't think it's an issue.
