ANOTHER DGB THREAD!

Dorial Green-Beckham visiting the Chiefs today

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-chiefs-today/

While many pre-draft visits are for the sake of smokescreen, or to firm up medical information, many of them are for teams to look a player in the eye.

Likely along those lines, the Chiefs are bringing in one of the most talented players in the 2015 NFL Draft today, who comes with considerable baggage.

Via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Chiefs are hosting former Missouri wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham today.

Green-Beckham has also visited the Bengals and 49ers, and the Vikings and Ravens have also met with him. Plenty of other teams probably have as well, to see if they are willing to gamble on a player with explosive ability and a checkered past.

Green-Beckham was kicked off the team at Missouri after a pair of drug arrests, and a domestic violence accusation (though no charges were filed). He transferred to Oklahoma, but never played a down there.

If you trust him, he’s the kind of game-breaking talent which any team can use, and getting him with the 18th pick might be a steal. Weighing whether they can take such a chance is the kind of thing most evaluators can’t decide before meeting someone face-to-face, which the Chiefs will do today.

Forget the team and situation completely, why would you want word to get out that you were trying to be picky in his situation?

Am I the only one who sees a second round slide? I mean he only had one good year. Plus the baggage the year away. The mind ruining time in Norman. He's got slide written all over him.

hard to say. you would think so, but all it takes is one gm to take him... i know when teams go watch his tape and watch him damn near put his nutsack on another mans head, he's going to be very tempting.

He's athletic, but he's not transcendent.

And his red flags are not minor, and I'm not talking about the off the field stuff. His on the field play, outside of his impressive jump ball highlights, is not exactly the stuff you want to build an offense around. He reads a lot like Baldwin and I'd really be worried that that's exactly what you are going to get with DGB. He's a massive project and then you have to understand that Reid's playbook is extensive. Does the guy have the mental ability to be effective in this system? Does his skill set allow him to be effective in a system that puts an emphasis on timing and precision?

Play strength is a major concern. Struggles to free himself from press coverage and can be taken completely out of his routes. Runs sloppy, rounded routes. Fails to set up his breaks and frequently leads cornerbacks to his destination. Slow to adjust routes and find open space against zone. Fails to create the separation that is potentially available for him at top of routes. Rarely looks to body up cornerbacks and keep them out of the throw. Suspect work ethic. Awareness of footwork near sideline an issue. Considered a problem child at Missouri. Suspended twice by Missouri and arrested twice for marijuana-related incidents. Kicked off team at Missouri in April 2014 after details of his alleged role in an alleged burglary were released by Columbia, Mo., police. He allegedly shoved a female student down some stairs during the alleged incident, but no charges were filed. Missed entire 2014 season.

DGB didn't play last year, that is especially concerning for a WR.

I just don't think you take such a project in the 1st

Poe turned out to be a quality 1st round choice and it seems to be what this team does. Fisher and Ford are quite the projects. Time will tell with the latter two, but I don't think this theory applies to the Chiefs.

Definitely this... the question marks abound and his talent level doesnt rise above them.

dgb is an extremely functional athlete. he plays well beyond his measurables (which are still good)

just look at the picture man, how many guys have you ever seen get up that high over a defender? not very many. the best high point catchers in the nfl aside from calvin are dez bryant and aj green imo.

dgb 4.49 vert 33.5 (20lbs over his playing weight)

aj 40 4.50 vert 34.5

dez 4.52 vert 38

jon baldwin didn't fail because of his skill set, so there is absolutely nothing wrong with comparing dgb to baldwin... baldwin was lazy and never worked to refine his game, but he was extremely talented. that being said though i still think dgb is much more athletic on the field. i've never seen baldwin make several guys miss in the open field, and i've never seen baldwin go up so high, he t bagged the defender.

the wco definitely isn't the best fit for dgb, but he can certainly succeed in it.

Dorsey certainly seems to like taking projects with big upside.
