I used to say it with a silent E now I say it with the E. I don't know why I changed to be honest.

I ask for a Coke even when I want a Dr. Pepper.

And Pepsi isn't fit for human consumption.

English is a fluid language. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what you say; if the person or people you are speaking to understand what you say then the language has done its job.

Meh. If you want a dark carbonated sugary beverage and you're ambivalent to the specific type, you say Coke.

If you want a specific type or a brand then you say it, but with most people saying Coke gets the point across 75% of the time because of how prevalent the brand is.

I grew up saying Coke for any carbonated beverage. But that was because we only had one kind in the fridge at any one time. If we had a choice, it was asked; "what kind?".

I had heard that Soda was primarily used east of the Mississippi and Coke to the west.

But I am specific now. The worst is when you order a Jack and Coke and you get a Jack and Pepsi. I didn't order a Jack and Pepsi because that sucks.

We have Javalina's in Phoenix too and they suck. They love Halloween so they can feast on the pumpkins. There is a hunting season for them here. They will **** up your car if you hit one.

Adding to that, even if I 'want' a Dr. Pepper, if I get a Coca Cola classic I''m just fine 100% of the time. If I don't get either, I'm know in a sip.

Mostly these days though. I only order carbonated beverages at places with a self serve soda fountain [fast food, BBQ, pizza joints, buffets and the like], so all I'm really asking for is the bigger glass that costs money.

4 legs, the e is silent.
2 legs, it is not.

Also, the soda debate is kinda cool. I grew up in a suburb of Dallas, Tx. Coke was any of the dark colas. Here, everything is pop. Actually, Mt. Dew. Everybody and their dog drinks Mt. Dew.
