Chiefs Offseason Planet Evaluation: Albert Wilson

This will be one of the more interesting evaluations. Tell me what you think about Albert Wilson.

Poll coming faster than a Chiefs exit from the playoffs.

Albert appeared in 13 games and started 7.
He recorded 42 receptions for 554 yards (13.2 ypc) and 3 TD. 0 fumbles.

He added 3 rushes for 6 yards as well.

If some team is dumb enough to invest a huge contract into a fragile, 5’9 WR that’s had alligator arms for the majority if his career, so be it.

Marcus Kemp has a much higher upside, IMO.

Let him walk.

That was what I was saying. I would like to have Wilson back but there is a price. As for Robinson vs. Conley I really like Conley. I think he has the higher floor, Robinson the lower floor but perhaps the higher ceiling since I think he is more athletic. A little more fluid.

He will disappoint you in the coming year/s now that its Pat's team and not all Alex's fault. Be very aware!
He made a ton of plays for Mahomes in Denver. It would be foolish to get rid of him given the chemistry they have.

There's no way I'd approach $5 million or more on a contract for Wilson, as he's shown to be fragile in the past.

Plus, 2017 was a contract year for him so it all could be an illusion.
I'd agree with you on this. He's just too inconsistent to increase his role or move him up the depth chart. With Kemp and maybe another (DRob or Dieter) in the wings, you'd have almost zero dead money tied up should he revert to what we've seen prior to this year.

The Wilson situation reminds me of a guy that we drafted in the late rounds in 96. He was a backup guy that wasn't thought that highly of. But he, like Wilson showed steady improvement and his 4th year he took a step forward and showed promise. The Chiefs let him walk to the Saints, where he finally blossomed and became a star. I was sick when he left, but even more sick when I saw what he became. Does Wilson have the chance to be another Joe Horn? Probably not. But it would be so Chiefs for him to walk and him to bust out.

5th year 5'9 players who've routinely had alligator arms and missed several games due to fragility don't "bust out".

With our cap situation? And if it means missing out on defense?

You think if Kelce, Hunt, and Hill are playing Wilson gets the stats he did with Mahomes? There may be a connection but some of you are forgetting that Wilson was getting a ton of looks just by default in that game. He was the #1 WR.

If some team offers him $5M, they have more cash than we do. We thank you for your service, Albert.

Meh, best bet is some other team overpays him and we get a comp pick. He surprised me this year and definitely has improved but I think he has hit his ceiling and will only hold up development of the more dangerous and higher potential guys like Drob/Chesson/Kemp.

I'll also openly admit I'm biased due to his fraidy cat behavior in years past and t-rex impressions in big game situations but it has been a couple years. I still wouldn't trust him, imagine Mahomie driving for the SB win next year and Wilson alligators a 3rd down pass. I'll pass unless he signs something where he is easily cuttable at anytime without a huge hit.
