All you have to do is look at the decline in the quality of journalism to know that advertising isn't cutting it.

I'm not sure we've ever had an official policy, but my own take has always been that it's OK to post a snippet (and link) from an article if you'd like to provide commentary or discussion, but we're not going to just allow direct mirroring of articles verbatim.

In Seth's case in particular, he'll probably post the gifs on Twitter, so if someone wants to paste those into a thread, that's fine, but no copying and pasting entire articles from behind the paywall.

In short, if the content isn't worth paying for, that's fine. Don't pay for it. But don't go stealing it when they're trying to provide quality content in an age where it's severely lacking.

Could be that with social media the need for journalist isnt what it once was. People see the video on facebook a day before a journalist breaks anything, and when they do it's normally just a meh recap because there's nothing more than the same speculation that you see on social media.

I guess I'm not defending modern journalism as much as speculating journalism of the past. Maybe it seemed better because you just believed what joe blow wrote in the star vs now getting on cp and twitter and diving in for yourself.

If you can't see the difference in the reliability and quality of product being put out by the media in 2018 compared to 20-30 years ago, there's no point in trying to discuss it.
