My guitar synth has a pretty good sounding banjo sample in it- of course, it'll only sound like the instrument if you play it like that instrument.
It does sound pretty decent playing Dueling Banjos, tho....

Skip sure seems to me like he fits the profile of a banjo player. Well, maybe 75 years ago when he was a kid picking one while sitting on a railroad bridge overlooking a little river.

I was in New York last week and went to the Museum of the City of New York. They had a special exhibit on Senator Patrick Moynihan.
Apparently, the first press clip about Moynihan occurred when he was six years old and his parents sent him on a train trip by himself to visit a grandmother or aunt or something. The article was a little one-paragraph clip that mentioned that his parents put him on the train with a suitcase, and that when the trip ended he got off with a suitcase and a banjo. It ended with a sentence something like, "Patrick was unable to explain how he had acquired the banjo." Pretty funny.
