What is the No. 1 area we need to address in the off-season?

I was thinking about making this a poll, then I thought I would forget something. Here are some things that could be addressed this off-season:

-Defensive Coordinator

-Punter

-Shut-down corner

-re-signing FAs (Tait, Wesley, etc.)

-Wide receiver

-D-Line

-Linebacker

What else are you thinking? I realize Barber, Fujita and Mitchell will probably be starting linebackers next year, and the D-line could remain the same as well, but there probably is better talent out there. What do you think?

I'm not desperate to get rid of LJ. I just think it makes sense. I think he is going to be a real talent in the NFL. BUT, not here! When he was drafted in April of 2003, RB was a real concern with the Chiefs. Holmes was a major question mark. In fact, Holmes was still a question mark entering training camp. That is why CP wouldn't fork over the cash until he proved he was OK. Now, Holmes will be the man around here for the next 5 years or so (You don't think they paid him all that cash to back up Johnson do you?). DV doesn't do RBbC (Thank God), so there is no real need for LJ.

LJ was a real need in April 2003. He isn't today.

As far a Lavalais being around in the 2nd round, who knows. He only weighs in at 290, which isn't huge for a DT. If he isn't, maybe MCneil from Auburn will be.

In fact, here is a 7 round computer generated mock draft that has Lavlalis going in the 6th round. A trade with the Steelers for LJ would net us both Evans and Losman by this mock. I could live with that...

If Vermiel leaves at the end of the season, our most pressing need will be head coach...

Otherwise- lots of corners and wide-receivers, and a linebacker or two ought to do us good.

I like Hicks, but I've got a feeling he's going to want to get paid. That means he's gone.

If that's the case I'd prefer to take the best DE out there....A TRUE pass rushing moster on the outside...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

True...but, I think Truluck and Wilkerson will be mature greatly into the position should it become a void.

I would love to get a shut-down corner....

i would luv a corner too, but what about the middle of our defensive line getting abused in the running game seemingly each week?

IMO we need to move Ryan Sims over to DT and get a big mountain at NT.

Upon further review, I think more affordable nachos and cheaper (but still quality) beer would be a more pressing issue than the cheerleaders.

Yes, that too...

However, we need not forget that Morten Anderson will most likely retire should we succeed to the Super Bowl, so we will definately need a placekicker as well.

No pass rush = no shut down corner.

You want one of those sign Bobby Taylor in the offseason. He's the real deal. Then draft a STUD pass rusher.

The reason this defense isn't great (besides GROB) is that we don't have one true STUD on defense. Where's our DT? Where's our Ronnie Lott, our Neil Smith, our Reggie White, our Michael Strayhan, our Ray Lewis?

We don't have one. We've got a lot of good players, but no GREAT player....

Woods, Wesley, Barber, and Fujita all are doing very well. Maybe a lesser bit of greatness, but they sacrifice greatness with their speed.

Sims has shown potential, but is rather lopsided on using his full talents. We have a small nucleus of young and very, very promising guys on the Defense. I agree we need a stud DE, but I think stealing a couple of speedy, highly talented defensive backs could do wonders as well.

I think Fujita, Kawika, Wilkerson, Truluck, and Sims will all mature and become very, very good ball players in the long run....Notice, none of these guys are defensive backs- therefore, that is why I suggest stealing a couple of DB's out of the draft.

If Derrick Strait is still there at 32,we should take him.I believe we have other pressing needs, but most likely we won't re-sign Bartee, which will leave an opening for a CB.I think our most pressing need is a NT,but I don't the Chiefs will go after one with our first pick.
