The reason why the CHIEFS can't win another Superbowl

Is the offence not powerful enough?

No.

Is the defence just not up to snuff?

Believe it, or not - no.

The reason the CHIEFS can not win another Superbowl is because when it comes to a big game, they will never get a fairly officiated outing in the modern day NFL.

Now, of course, many teams have fans that make claims that their beloved team is the victim of bad officiating, but few have witnessed what CHIEFS fans have. Especially in the past decade.

Forget the team's 2004 season opening loss to Denver, or officials being indifferent to the Colts "creative" scrimage tactics last season. This disturbing trend is evident in far more than just one game, or season for that matter.

In the 2003 regular season the CHIEFS lost only three games, and two of those teams didn't even make the playoffs, and the other should have been at home too.
All three games were heavily hyped, on the road, and very very badly officiated.
Touchdowns were given to runningbacks that steped out-of-bounds before breaking the plane, and opposing teams recievers were allowed to push off downfield. Opposing teams offensive lines were allowed to hold, cut block, trip, and avoid penalties for playclock violations. Opposing teams defences were allowed to impede recievers regularly, and in almost every game of the 2003 CHIEFS regular season allowed to interfere.
When one takes a hard look it is actually amazing that the CHIEFS won thirteen of those games.

Now what NFL owner would be stoopid enough to try that? Jerry Bowlen Jr., perhaps?

Nothing worse than a tainted champ.

Thanks to Gaz for the use of the word "tainted".

Even though I disagree that the Chiefs are picked on by the officiating. I do think that you're overreacting to the initial post. If you disagree, then say so. Perhaps voice your opinion on WHY you disagree w/o the senseless gradeschool namecalling.

Now, to answer the initial post..... I disagree that the Chiefs are picked on by the officiating. YES, I've seen calls that make you want to jump out of your chair and throw something at the TV. Yet, we catch an occasional break as well (Kennison's down by contact last week comes to mind).

If there's a legit arguement to officiating, there needs to be consistancy from week to week. If a crew or individual ref keeps making game deciding mistakes, then he/they need to be fined, suspended, or just flat out fired. One current example would be the constant flag throwing in preseason on contact after 5 yards and how "the NFL will crack down on the rule this year". Then in week one, Gonzales was mugged damn near every play. Where are the flags? There's no way in hell that the refs never saw it the entire game. If you're going to "crack down on a rule", then you need to be consistant with the playcalling.

Here's a legit arguement for you. You can work it from here....

I'm not too happy with some of the officiating over the years, but I refuse to stoop to the level of a Donkey fan and start crying about how the refs cost us anything. I went to watch our HS team in the State Championship game last year. The refs were blatent in their attempts to keep our team down but they couldn't do it. Great teams rise above the officiating and poor fans blame the officiating.

(Sorry for throwing it back up END, but it was near the top anyway - [edit]Oh, I just noticed that you bumped it seconds before me so never mind)

The reason why the CHIEFS can't win another Superbowl is that they don't score more point than their opponent in the games that they lose.

This thread does not even make sense, the only reason we were in last Sunday night's game was bad officiating. Against Denver.

Spraying the uniforms with cooking oil can help too.

Yep. The thing that shocked me was when Trent Green, in the spirit of QB Brotherhoodedness, decided to run backwards for twenty-something yards and get sacked to make Plummer feel better about himself. Now, that's loyalty. Trent's got a good heart. I'll give him that.

The reason the Chiefs can't win another SB is because they have a man in charge of drafting and signing talent who just can't seem to get the right talent in to field a complete team.

Whether that's poor talent evaluation, frugality, or allowing the coaches to yield to much sway in the decision making process, he just hasn't gotten it done.

It started out as a 5 year plan.
It has now become the never ending plan.
