Help me buy a new car.

My beloved 2005 Mustang has reached the end of its life. 144K miles its time to move on. Going to start a new job with a commute across a long bridge over water. Going to miss it.

You help me decide. Point me in the right direction. Give me the great info that puts me in the right car.......I'll send $50 to the charity of your choice.

Criteria:
I want to spend between $30k - $40K.
Automatic
Got some style
Have to be able to fit in the car comfortably
Prefer a coupe

Right now I'm thinking new Challenger, Nissan 370Z, Mustang etc. Son is telling me to look at used Mercedes, Lexus etc.

What ideas do you have?

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Update 03/11/2015
It's a done deal. I've bought and ordered a 2015 Challenger SCAT Pack Shaker. 392 Hemi 6.4L, 486 HP, 475 toruque, 4.1 second 0-60 time. Has all the same luxury "stuff" as the BMW and Lexus's.

Last years "Shaker" models sold out in 4 days. I decided if I was going retro, go all in and went with the lime green 1971 Challenger remodel. Bumblebee stripe and the Shaker hood. I deleted the stripes on the roof and the hood. Will take 6-8 weeks for delivery. Dark wheels.

I gave $50 each to the charity of their choice to Bearcat and Miles. When Simply Red shows back up, I'll get his charity the money.

The Car arrived finally......

I was considering it for the Chiefs game but I won't have the nuts to spend the money on all that. Shit, I work in sales. I have to make the money first. Back to work on Monday for the first time in months. Good thing, because I'm broke as **** now. Lol

Wouldn't trade this life that I straight tripped into for anything.

When my bimmer was put on the boat my dealer sent me a link so I could track it as it made its way across the pond. You should check with your SA to see if they still do that.

Thanks, I think they should be able to at least get the name of the ship. I found someone who went all out and included info on ship websites, web cams at the ports, etc.

How long did you wait once it was on a ship? I've read 2 weeks for the trip and then maybe a week or so from the east coast.

Once the transport ship left port it was right about 3 weeks. It sat at the port for about a week and a half before the ship left the port. Two weeks sail to S. Carolina. BMW has a facility in SC that takes a few days to clean it up then they put it on a hauler. The dealer then detailed it up and scheduled a time for me to pick it up. If your dealer is like mine was expect to spend a few hours before taking it off the lot. They went over all the features and how to's like setting up your phone(s), seats, etc. They even offered to come to the house to set up the Homelink but I did that myself. They really put on a presentation that makes you feel like you are their top priority during delivery.

Nice. They have a track in SC and I think you can opt to pick it up there... something I would have considered if I had time.

I'd normally tell them 'I'll figure it out', but after seeing a few videos that show the depth of the menus and all the options, it'd be nice to at least have an overview so I don't sit in my driveway for hours (which I might do anyway ). My current car is a 2006, so the "tech" is basically an aux jack and ability to play mp3 CDs... the hard drive for music will be great, along with bluetooth, and hell, a place to plug in my phone.

If I can just figure out how to get Google maps on the navigation screen...

Holy shit, now I'm digging in to this and it looks like it's going to be a no Brainer.

One cool thing w/ that m5 is; i can push in the M button and grab 100 additional WHP - so essentially - I go from 400whp to 500whp - all by simply pushing in the 'M' button. Yeah boyeee.....

**** that. You're making more money doing whatever you do. You think those guys can afford to buy one? No offense hometeam. But he'll tell you only the elite guys in car sales make six figures, and they work 70 hours a week to do it. If you want to get into sales, timeshare is 30-35 hours a week and I'll be pissed if my range isn't between 150 - 300 this year. Took me 3 years of living and breathing it to get there but I had zero sales experience.

I never post, but had to chime in here as I was just at BMW's facility in SC.

(I actually was perusing this thread because I am in a similar boat as BRC, price range, also considering the Challenger among others, and so I wanted to see where this went.)

A friend of mine ordered a 435i GC and elected to do the SC pickup. (And you can bring a friend -- hello marketing/sales tool!) We flew down, they picked us up at the airport in a brand new 740, and took us to the hotel. Hotel stay, dinner, breakfast, and transportation were all included. They shuttled us to the track first thing the next morning and put us in a 435 so that we could beat the hell out of a car similar to what he bought. (Whatever you are picking up, they try to get you in something as close as possible.)

We were on the track for a couple of hours, switching off driving duties. They also put us in X5s and had us tool around on an off-road course. Toured the factory and the museum. They gave us lunch and spent 2 hours going over his car and answering all questions.

I had honestly never considered buying a BMW before, but the experience was absolutely incredible. I would highly recommend it if you settle on a new BMW.

My $.02.

Sweet, sounds like a great alternative to European Delivery... and when you're done, you can drive through the mountains (and in my experience, speed limits are only light suggestions in the Carolinas and Tennessee).

What this guy said.
