Bungie Destiny

Didnt see this posted anywhere.

Bungie's Destiny Will be Revealed in 5 Days

Mark your calendars for this Sunday, February 17.

by Lucas M. Thomas
February 12, 2013

Yesterday we brought to you the news that a reveal of Bungie's next project, Destiny, was being hinted at for this upcoming Monday, February 18 – an augmented-reality game on the studio's website seemed to be pointing toward that date. Well, we won't have to wait quite that long. It's now been announced that Destiny will be unveiled one day earlier than we thought, on this Sunday, February 17.
An official Facebook page went live today and made that announcement as its first order of business. A Twitter account for the game has also been activated as well.
And if all that isn't enough to get you hyped, have a first look at the game's just-revealed logo as well:

Had to do the weekly heroic strike by myself and got the Perfect Striker trophy for not dying. Luckily it was the strike from the beta or else I wouldn't have been able to do it. My Fusion Rifle was one-hit killing level 22 Captains

This. It's well done but repetitive as a mofo and underwritten vs. games like Borderlands.

The backbone of the game is to introduce the sort of progression grind (faction, gear, strike, raid) that's made PC MMOs so addictive and popular for so many people for years. So yeah it's repetitive. Everything else, aside from pvp which is another grind, is basically secondary.

Personally I love it. I've clocked I think more than 20 hours since it went live, and most of that time has been spent free-roaming the patrol areas in Old Russia to complete bounties and accrue Vanguard rep, although I did spend some time randomly exploring the Moon (really like the environment there). Even though I have a level 12 warlock and a level 10 hunter I've actually only done the first six story missions, so I have nearly all of the Moon left, as well as all of Venus and Mars. Doing Devil's Lair tonight for the first time (since beta...) with a friend, then probably doing the rest of the Moon missions. I thought that would be a more enjoyable roadmap to follow than the standard "burn through all the missions and strikes as quickly as possible" approach. And even better everything I have left to do from now on is completely new to me.

And I think it does help to play it with other people. I usually game alone (even in MMOs), and most of my time in Destiny has been solo, and I've loved all of it, but I also really enjoyed duoing through the Earth story missions on Hard mode last night with a friend. I think that, much like with MMOs, the game experience is a little different with company.

I've put 150 hours into an online shooter MMO in the last 2 months. First MMO style game I've played. I love and hate the grind both. But I do it. I will probably split half my time on this and half on that game (Firefall). I'm just not looking forward to using a controller.

You'll be fine with some time. I jumped into the beta in July not having used a controller in a decade and never having used analog sticks and was able to get through everything with no problems.

One word of advice though: turn down the sticks' sensitivity in the game's menu. It'll help get your aim onto your target a little more easily, rather than shooting off into the air and into the ground and other hilarious but ultimately unproductive things.

Where the hell to you access the Vanguard stuff? I have the add on installed but have no idea how to obtain it for my character. According to several posts on Reddit I am supposed to be able to buy it from the broker at the tower but everytime I go there I can see it but can't buy it because it says level 20. Reddit says it shouldn't matter what level I am.

It's on the vanguard quartermaster near the shipwright. There should be a tier of stuff that's level 5 or level 10 above the purple gear and sparrows.

If you're not seeing the stuff, turn the game off. Go to your console settings and renew your licenses (it's under 'PSN' I think). At least that worked for me, and seems to be the standard advice.

Already done all that twice. the Armor is there but it is all level 20 and I can't access it. I haven't been able to buy any vanguard shit yet.

Ok, I'm just getting frustrated now. JFC Game just sucks playing alone.

Man you need to get to level 20 ASAP because that's where the bulk of the game is at. You have to earn Vanguard Marks to buy legendary gear and you can only get Vanguard Marks (as far as I know) in the level 20+ strike playlist or in the Heroic daily and weekly challenges. Those late game strikes also give you Vanguard rep.
