Right now he is more of a small two guard than a point guard, and he doesn't put in undue effort on the defensive end, but there is a ton of natural talent to work with."

Let Bill and Andrea get a hold of him, and that'll address his defensive short-comings and the size issue.

He had offers from Arizona, Cal, UConn, Gonzaga, Texas, Wash and Wash St.

He's not. Kind of odd, but he's a 3-star, unranked. It's kind of funny. Out of the 5 commits, only two are ranked in the top 100. I think there's been a change in recruiting philosophy, in that Bill has been burned by a couple of high ranking recruits that for one reason or another, couldn't qualify to play this year. Next year we see Ellis, who on paper looks like a Duke recruit. The rest of the kids have pretty decent academic credentials, and I don't see any of them as "college prep" kids.
Note: Landen Lucas is ranked just outside the top 100, and could move up.

1. I think part of it is fatigue and a thin bench. Its been a grind of a season and I think it is natural to let up a bit when you get up big. Add to the fact we don't have a bench that can maintain a lead, it then becomes difficult to get that competitive edge back in a game.

2. No doubt! His stroke has looked fine, hopefully the aim is all lined up now, we need that for March.

3. It was a hell of a block, though, and he absolutely bailed out that guy in the corner, forgot who it was. But, yeah, he needs to find that confidence in his stroke. He also hit a couple of free throws in a late game situation, unlike some starting guards I could name.

4. His stroke certainly looks the best, although he's been a little off the past two games, hopefully a minor blurb.

5. She certainly earns her keep. TRob was pretty well sculpted when he got here. You want to see something more dramatic? Look at the twins when they were freshman to the time when they left as juniors.

6. I agree, and some "setting a good defensive base" techniques with Manning. He tends to get pushed around quite easily which would only get exposed more dramatically in the NBA. Still, his improvement is remarkable.

7. Three seniors and a lot of good talent coming in next year. Should be enough to mount a good defense of the crown.

8. Self has been amazing in his ability to translate the importance of the regular season. A couple more Final Fours and a championship would cement himself as one of the all time greats.

You are not the only one. When he does get his feet set, you can see the difference,he looks balanced and has a smoother shot and release.

He looks like he should play for ISU(Boo State) or Duke, but I can't wait to see him in C&B.

Ken Pomeroy is finding that what happens behind the 3PT line is essentially a lottery. Defenses have very little control over what an opponent's 3PT percentage is at this level. In essence, this gives some meaning to the "you live by the three, and you die by it" saying.

It also helps better explain quite a few of the upsets that KU has faced in the tournament in recent years other than the fact that tournament is basically a crapshoot. Both Northern Iowa and especially VCU employed the 3PT shot heavily in their offenses...making those games more random than they would have been otherwise.

When the draw comes out for the NCAA tournament this year, hope for teams in KU's section that don't take a lot of 3s. Facing those kind of teams drops the amount of luck/randomness in each game and allows Self's effective 2PT defense to play more of a role in each game.

It's no coincidence that four of KU's losses this season have come against teams that jack up a higher percentage of 3's than the average team (Duke, MU, ISU, Davidson).

Very good point. And it doesnt help when we have a defender dropping off his man to help down low and leaving his man wide open. See Relaford last night. Seems that Self's "help" defense bites them in the ass sometimes, which results in a higher percentage shot from 3 land.
