Well to be fair the first OC's he had when he started his career were hot garbage! In the Duhball realm! Defensive HC's with inept OC's. Doesn't it sound familiar to this past season?

In the two scenarios under discussion you either risk Geno - an unproven commodity - over Alex Smith, or you risk Joekel / Fisher over Albert. I get the idea that risk at QB may be more worth it due to the potential payoff, but obviously the Chiefs believe there is a higher percentage chance at success going the way they are going.
Albert is a better LT than Smith is a QB.

IMO, Smith has hit his ceiling with Harbaugh. Smith was in a perfect situation in San Fran - great D with solid STs, solid running game, once in a lifetime turnover ratio differential. Coaches don't bench QB's who just brought their team to the NFC championship game the year before unless they realize the guy has severe limitations.

I understand the franchise believes there is a higher percentage chance with the decisions they have made. Sadly, the Chiefs have taken that same failed approach the last 40 years. I'm only here to enjoy the car wreck.

This seems like the team Reid is trying to build.

He's coveted because he is one of the better players on the team.

What's the upside of Joeckel? Even if Joeckel is a little better than Albert it isn't the difference between a SB or not.

You know what you have in A. Smith. A midling game manager whose only successful seasons was being twice as conservative as Matt Cassel.

G. Smith is an unknown, but has a higher ceiling than an 8 year average vet. G. Smith has the POTENTIAL to be the difference between a SB or not. Take the chance with the QB instead of treading water with the LT.

Since when has Reid been known as a guy who runs the football?

Take away Alex Smith's running game and depend on him, and him alone, to move the chains.

Sounds like a good plan...yep.

The Chiefs obviously don't believe this statement... sorry, that is the truth. I think a portion of this fan base has fetishized Geno, hoping to wish him into being the chiefs next QB just because they want a rnd 1 QB. The simple fact is, they don't think he that good and are not going to draft him 1.1.

re: Joeckel
I feel like 100 times a day I hear that Joeckel is only marginally better than Brandon Albert from uninformed people... and I don't think the chiefs believe that. Despite what everybody thinks, they are acting like they see LJ as a significant improvement over BA. A Pro bowl left tackle. Is he? Who knows.

Have they said that, or is it pure assumption?

The net profit on all this will be Alex Smith for the 1.1

I don't really give a shit as long as they win. Let's wait and see if they do. It is way too early to tell.
